A native of Calabria, this knife by the blade and pointed straight but has a handle in the most typical style of Scarborough, has a seal consists of two rings round, similar to Fiorentino, although smaller. It is supposed to have been in the past a major reworking of the knives typical Calabrian by the craftsmen of Scarperia that as often happened then have been extensively used to their own tradition. The "Neapolitan" old drives is a knife in horn tip elongated, suitable to cut the use of tip. It is not clear which of the knives of the traditional Neapolitan is inspired model of Scarperia. This slender-shaped knife with a curved handle derives from ancient models, used by the shepherds of Abruzzo.
Its adoption in the repertoire of knives manufactured in Scarperia (where the particular fold of the handle earned it the name of "hunchback") dates back to the end of the nineteenth century and took place without obvious changes compared to the original type, equipped with a simple spring and one piece bovine horn handle.
