Horn, wood and cornotech are raw materials that by their nature have a marked variability from one supply to another: this is the beauty of quality materials. Add the craftsmanship, where the hand of the craftsman never performs the same gesture: it is the beauty of craftsmanship. Combine all this and you will have a product that is always different and unique. It is always different from that unique and unrepeatable product that we must necessarily photograph if we want to make you understand what we are talking about and what we are offering you. Piscitelli has been making knives in Frosolone for three generations, a small town in the Molise hinterland known for its knife-making. The Art, Style, and Tradition allow us to give importance and originality to our creations handed down from generation to generation.
Giovanni Piscitelli, born in Frosolone (IS). The passion for collection and hunting knives I inherited from my father (master craftsman) from whom I also inherited the most sophisticated techniques. My knives are unique pieces, strictly handcrafted.
When producing a knife, there are many elements that make a difference. In addition to a difference in value in the choice of materials, it is the labor required to perform certain operations, closely connected to the construction complexity that makes the knife more valuable. The reasons that justify the differences can also lie in the processing of the blade, or of the handle (elements that it is good to remember are modeled and finished exclusively by hand).

Artigiano Scarperia - Love Knife Fusetto in Deer - hand-engraved - handmade knife
In some areas of central and southern Italy, it was customary to give knives as engagement or wedding gifts, assigning the knife the task of sanctioning the love bond.
There was a strong identification between man and knife: the lover who gave such a gift to the woman symbolically offered himself, while the gift given to the man could be interpreted as an exhortation to virile valor.
Some specimens of this historical knife also served as protection against the evil eye, featuring the characteristic “dice eyes” on the handle, while the blades were traditionally engraved with decorative and symbolic elements.
The love knives were also indicative of the social class of the family: less wealthy couples, unable to afford very elaborate knives, sanctioned their love with simpler, less worked, and less expensive objects, but identical in values and meanings.
