  2. United - Sting sword of Bilbo Beggins - The Hobbit - fantasy sword

Sting - Sword of Bilbo Baggins - The Hobbit Version

In the Third Age of Middle-earth, the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins was unexpectedly swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo found himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield.

In this harrowing journey Bilbo and his Company of Dwarves came upon a troll lair in Rhûdaur. There they found two Elven swords, Glamdring, and Orcrist, and a knife. Bilbo claimed the knife for himself, and it was more of a sword to someone of his stature. He wielded the sword through most of the quest, famously using it against the Giant Spiders of Mirkwood to save the Company of Dwarves. After Bilbo had slain his first spider he declared, "I will give you a name, and I shall call you Sting."

This authentically detailed replica is a reproduction of the actual filming prop built by Weta Workshop of New Zealand and used in the motion picture, THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY. United Cutlery, industry leader in fine movie reproductions, has meticulously recreated the prop using only the finest grade materials and craftsmanship. Close attention to detail was a top priority. The Sting sword is 22 1/4" overall, featuring a stainless steel blade and, solid metal hilt parts, and an intricately detailed vine adorning the grip. It is presented with a wood wall display featuring graphic motifs from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and includes a certificate of authenticity.

  5. United - The Lord of the Rings - Sting, the sword of Frodo Baggins - UC1264 - fantasy sword

Like all the ancient elven blades, Sting magically shines with a blue light in the presence of Orcs nearby; Gollum, who hates everything that has been done by the Elves (because of the intrinsic charge of purity that Elven objects absorb from their creators), is afraid of Sting.

This has helped Bilbo in his confrontation with Gollum under the mountain in The Hobbit and, later, also Frodo thanks to the terror that the blade inspired to Gollum, has managed to tame it (temporarily) in The Lord of the Rings.

Sting has the ability to easily cut spider webs since it was probably created for this need by its creators of Gondolin, at that time there were in fact numerous spiders for the woods around it and it was therefore more convenient to have a sword or dagger to use rather than a big sword. This blade is of absolute terror for Shelob and all spiders in general grown in the darkness.

This finely detailed replica is a 1: 1 scale reproduction of the sword used for filming the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

    Blade: 420J2 stainless steel, engraved
    Handle: painted wood
    Knob: antique metal
    Guard: engraved antique metal
    Blade length: 39cm.
    Total length: 57cm.

  6. United - The Lord of The Rings - Pungolo, la spada di Frodo Baggins - UC1424 - Museum Collection Limited Edition

United Cutlery UC1424 LOTR™ Museum Collection Sting™ in edizione numerata a tiratura limitata

King Theoden, courageous soldier and leader of the land of Rohan, fell under the power of the wizard Saruman through the slithering machinations of his servant Grima. Only through the intervention of Gandalf the White was Theoden exorcised of Sarumans corrupting influence. Gandalf said to Theoden, "Your fingers would remember their old strength better if they grasped your sword," and at that moment Theodens mind cleared, his authority as king returned to him, and his great sword, Herugrim was once more returned to his grasp. Theoden went on to lead the defense of Helms Deep and the charge of the Rohirrim to the aid of Gondor and against the hordes of the enemy that assailed the White City. The hope of all Men and Free Peoples then lay in the defense of Minas Tirith.

The blade's flattened diamond shape and equally wide fuller reduced weight, yet retained strength in the end of the blade by stopping just short of the tip. It was equally effective for slashing against lightly armored opponents and for thrusting into more heavily protected enemies. The guard, similar to that of his father's sword, showed a warrior's flourish in that it was formed from a square-edged piece of steel that had been twisted before being curved into a crescent. The handgrip was wide like the blade, and the pommel was an elegant and simple piece of steel that added weight to balance the blade.
