In 1996 Blackie Collins was inducted into the Cutlery Hall of Fame. - The Strut'N'Cut knife is inspired by the soft suspension of Blackie Collins' Ducati motorcycle - In 1996 he partnered with Bill Meyer to create the Meyerco knife company. The two were immediate pioneers in the knife world, being the first company to launch an assisted-opening knife. Today Meyerco is credited with the invention of the spring-loaded knife. - Blackie Collins holds over 60 patents for knife mechanisms and many design patents for cutlery products. Today, Chad Los Banos' practical Boker Plus Subcom can definitely be called one of the cornerstones of Boker Plus. The continued popularity of this versatile pocket knife has prompted Boker to put this ultra-compact classic back into production in a modernized version. The Boker Plus Subcom 2.0 comes with a short D2 steel blade with a discreet pearl finish. It opens with the help of the thumb pin on both sides and is securely locked in place by the framelock's 2mm thick steel plate. Notes on the Designer

Michael Walker is to the knife industry what Michael Jordan is to basketball or Wayne Gretsky to hockey. He shattered established standards, leaping into uncharted terrain and elevating the art of cutlery to greater heights of innovation and modernity.

In 1980 the folding knife industry had few locking innovations and there was only the traditional Back Lock. In 1981 Walker invented, developed and ultimately branded the Michael Walker LinerLock® by adding a leaf spring that locked the blade open, making it a true one-handed folding knife. He has also included a latch to keep the blade closed using the spring force of the internal folder so that it does not open in a user's pocket.

This innovation has opened the doors of modern cutlery, allowing many new designs and future developments up to the current SubFrame Lock, Frame Lock, Flipper Folder and IKBS opening systems on ball bearings.

Other inventions include the "Lake and Walker Safety System" or LAWKS, BLADELock, Ball bearing lock, and Tough Lock.

Some of the production houses he has collaborated with include Spyderco, Columbia River Knife and Tool, Schrade, Böker and Klotzli.

Walker's knives and designs have inspired many other custom knife manufacturers, most notably Bob Terzuola and Ernest Emerson. Terzuola credits Walker with teaching him how to make a linerlock satchel and Emerson said seeing Walker's knife at a gun show inspired him to become a knifemaker.

Walker's knives can be found at the Artifex Gallery in Taos and in the most prestigious collections around the world.

The sturdy Pocket Smatchet features a VG-10 Spearpoint blade, featuring a durable stonewash finish. The removable thumb pin on the back of the blade allows for ambidextrous opening, while the linerlock reliably locks it in place. In 1947, Mikhail Kalashnikov presented the AK-47 assault rifle he had designed to the Red Army and immediately convinced the decision-making bodies of its development. Only two years later, the now famous AK-47 was officially put into service as the "7.62 mm Awtomat Kalasshnikova obraztsa 1947". Even then, the simple and reliable design with a gas-pressure magazine with a swivel-head breech, the consistent use of stamped plates that could be produced quickly and cheaply, and the adherence to a class of cartridges introduced by the Wehrmacht with the StG 44 with an average performance between machine gun and rifle ammunition set the trend to this day. These characteristics have made the Kalashnikov system the most built and replicated weapon in history, with an estimated 100 million manufactured worldwide.

Introduced in 1959 along with the AKM, the revised variant of the AK-47, the bayonet was no less revolutionary and formative for later designs than the famous assault rifle itself. The concept was based on a knife originally developed by R. Todorov for combat swimmers. It marked a move away from long bayonets, which were used purely as cutting weapons, to a short, mountable knife with insulated shears and a multifunctional rear saw.

Mikhail Kalashnikov personally visited the Boker manufacture in Solingen in 2002 and officially introduced the Boker Kalashnikov knife line to the public. More than 70 years after the AK-47 entered service, we now present a truly exceptional special edition model of the knife line and once again honor its brilliant engineering achievement. The Boker Kalashnikov Bayonet Damascus features a unique Damascus steel blade, made from 6Ch3 and 6Ch4 bayonet steel according to the GRAU index of the former Soviet Army and decorated with General Kalashnikov's signature. The stainless Damascus, handcrafted by Chad Nichols, has 80 layers and is hand forged in the Virus pattern. It features an unusually intricate pattern that is the result of a very controlled forging process.

The handle is CNC machined from a block of 6061-T6 aluminum and then black anodized. The stabilized inlays are made of domestic hornbeam wood, reminiscent of the wood in the stock of the famous assault rifle, and together they form the shape of the characteristic vents on the fore-end. The Russian amber shellac color of the original stocks has been accurately reproduced. They are also CNC milled from solid and inserted by hand. All screws and clip are also black anodized. Made in the Boker knife factory in Solingen, it is delivered with transparent floating display, certificate of authenticity and individual serial number.

The stunning Boker M4 Sherman-Damascus is a living piece of history and combines high quality craftsmanship with historical materials. The American M4 Sherman was designed in 1940 and is considered to be one of the most famous tanks in history. It was produced between 1942 and 1945, remained in service until 1957 and was used on all battlefields of World War II - not only by the United States and Canada, but also by Britain, by French forces. , from China and even the Soviet Union.

The Boker Sherman-Damascus features a unique 80-ply Damascus blade, forged with materials sourced from the production of the M4 Sherman tanks, previously restored by the museum. The unique damask is hand-forged for Boker by Chad Nichols and resembles the tank tracks left in the ground by the heavy chains of the M4 Sherman. The ball bearing blade fits into a solid steel frame block.

The overall shape of the knife is a tribute to the aesthetic lines of the tank, while the decorative screw of the blade axis is modeled on the characteristic main transmission pinion. The slightly contoured canvas micarta handle fits comfortably in the hand and the color is reminiscent of the camouflage paint used by both the United States Army and Marine Corps.

Sold with transparent display and with certificates of authenticity and individual serial number.

A portion of the proceeds from each knife sold goes to the Americans at the Wartime Museum to support educational programs and the care and preservation of these proud examples of American history. The Americans in the Wartime Museum is a nonprofit cultural and educational institution dedicated to honoring those who have served in all branches of the U.S. military and on the home front from World War I to the present.

Acknowledgments

I currently make a limited number of knives a year and participate in some exhibitions, where among other things I have won my first prizes:

in 2005 at LAME SOTTO I PORTICI in Romano di Lombardia (BG) I was awarded the "best table on display"

moreover, I ranked second in the competition organized by LAME D'AUTORE magazine as the best fixed hunting blade

but above all again in 2007, I achieved, to my great satisfaction, the level of MASTER OF ITALIAN COLTELLINAI CORPORATION, recognition received at the first exam taken.

Presentation of the craftsman

Creating a hand knife is what I consider a real art form.
The satisfaction of seeing an object that comes from your own hands, that takes shape and that reaches mechanical, artistic and aesthetic perfection is what pays me more for all the hours of work and effort it takes to create a knife completely by hand.

The passion for "cutting irons" has always been in me since I was a child and has grown with me until the almost sudden decision to build my first knife on my own, it was a "need", almost an inner need that I couldn't put it off, my hands and my mind had to start creating, of course what I had always been passionate about ... the knife!

I started at 40, in 2003, practically self-taught, I had no manual work experience, but I had been a mechanical designer for many years and this allowed me to know perfectly the technique and all the various stages of mechanical processing.

Currently I am a member, with the rank of Maestro, which is the highest, of the Italian Knifemakers Guild, an association recognized all over the world for the seriousness and above all quality of execution that all its members must maintain over time.

What I do now is what I consider my art form ..., to create "handmade, hunting and collectible knives".

They are knives made entirely by hand, only with an infinite series of files, a small drill for the holes and a sander for the concave grinding of the blades, nothing else!
I make above all folding knives, which satisfy more my desire to build perfect mechanical objects and perfection in the smallest details, even inside where they cannot be seen, is what distinguishes a hand-made knife from an industrially made one .

The mechanics must then be made in the best possible way, without counting the hours of work, only in this way the final result is guaranteed.

Of course, over the years I have refined my technique and currently I have improved even more the mechanics by inserting a system of ball bearings on the blade rotation, which guarantee an absolutely perfect seal and allow the blade to close and open without the slightest friction and with an incredible sweetness.

With regard to the blades, I am experimenting with new types of hardening, which give hardnesses of 62-63 HRC and allow exceptional wire holding and cutting quality for all types of use.

Pathically I make all the knives on my initial design, they are all unique pieces made completely by hand down to the smallest details, one at a time, only in this way, in my opinion, a knife can be considered "handmade".

Regarding the materials that I use, I can say that for the blades I prefer RWL34 steel which is sintered from powders and guarantees the total absence of internal defects, sometimes I also use damask, both stainless steel and carbon, for the uniqueness 'that they donate to the knife, since each damask is always different from another.

For the handles, one of the most beautiful materials is the mammoth tooth, which can be found in a variety of colors, all beautiful, I also use the fossil ivory of mammoth, various briars, titanium and carbon fiber.

Most of the knives, however, are made entirely of steel, in order to then be engraved, always and rigorously by hand, to transform the knife even more into a real work of art ...

Slight regrinding, perfectly centered blade with good retention from closed, fluid opening movement and blade without any horizontal or vertical clearance once opened. The frame lock engages in the first quarter of the race without any uncertainty and without sticking.

Globally in good condition, it shows some small marks on the G11 handles and on the back and belly of the liners. A small abrasion on the blade, on the right side near the tip of the knife.

Chad Banos' practical Bo Plus Subcom can definitely be described as one of the leaders of Boker Plus today.

The enormous value of utility in everyday life and the space-saving design have become legendary. The continued popularity of the versatile pocket knife has now prompted us to relaunch this ultra-compact classic in our range in a modernized version.

The Böker Plus Subcom 2.0 is equipped with a short D2 blade with black coating.

It opens using the thumb pins on both sides and locked in place firmly by the 2mm steel plate of the frame lock. A pronounced hand protection increases grip comfort and glide in the blade.

The structured handle in black Zytel has three-dimensional grooves and thanks to this surface structure, the ergonomic shape and the ribs in the thumb rest area, it always stays firmly in the hand, even when wet. With lanyard hole and reversible clip
