This slender-shaped knife with a curved handle derives from ancient models used by the shepherds of Abruzzo. Palmerino horn cattle PA2C20 two knives - knife

The production of Scarborough has not devoted much attention to penknives.

Traditional knife produced by master cutlers in Scarperia, place where, since 1300, the craftsmanship of Italian knives continues.
Typical Piedmont knife, in use since the early 19th century also in Liguria. Originally from the village of Vernante (Cuneo).

The 420 stainless steel blade can be scimitar or straight.
On the upper part of the heel there is always the characteristic appendix with the head of a nail which, by housing a socket in the handle, allows the blade to be held steady with the knifted thumb.
Used for all agricultural and domestic work and, for the particular sharpening, also for carving wood.
The cattlemen also used it as a surgical tool to carve the belly of cattle grazing, when too much wet grass was ingested causing excessive accumulation of gas.

Traditional Scarperia knife and used throughout Tuscany until the early 1800s.
It had an element of novelty, for the time: the metal structure inside the handle. As well as in the traditional bovine, Consiglio proposes it today also in buffalo and exotic woods.
