Katla, designed by Jesper Voxnaes, is a liner lock folding knife, which revives the Tanto profile blade with a bevel that enhances the excellent cutting qualities of the Böhler M390, hardened at 59/61 HRC.
The rotation mechanism is given by thrust bearings, and can be opened with the double peg for the thumb, or with the very fast pinball machine.
The detail that characterizes the Katla is the 3D processing of the handle on both ends of the cheek which recalls, reworking them in a modern key, the insignia of the most classic Viper models.
The flat edges and the titanium clip allow a comfortable and discreet port.

On December 9, 1942, during the Second World War, KA-BAR presented a knife to the United States Marine Corps hoping it would become the standard weapon. In collaboration with the Marine Supply Department, the project was revised, and production began on an improved combat and utility knife.

During the war, USMC KA-BAR knives gained such recognition for their quality and abundance that "KABAR" became the common name. It was adopted by the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Underwater Demolition Teams. Years later, many KA-BAR knives were reactivated in Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2019, KA-Bar partnered with Spartan Blades to form Pineland Cutlery. CEO John Stitt aimed to create a "KA-BAR" with improved strength, robustness, and corrosion resistance. During development, metallurgist Larrin Thomas identified CPM MagnaCut® steel with the desired qualities.

CPM MagnaCut® is a sintered high-carbon steel produced by Crucible Industries and specifically designed for blades. Spartan Blades developed the Spartan-KA-BAR using CNC machining, cryogenic treatment, and PVD coatings.

The weight of the knife is just 87g. The profile is a spear point type, with a full-length shank that makes it even lighter and with a ¾-length false counterblade. The finish is a stone washed type.

The knife's polymer handle features classic Extrema Ratio shells that make for a more secure grip and is attached to the tang by a through-screw. On the rear end the handle flows connecting with a wide ring equipped with a "skull crusher" appendage: a ring that allows the use of martial arts techniques and ensures the hand a very solid grip.
