In 1996 Blackie Collins was inducted into the Cutlery Hall of Fame. - The Strut'N'Cut knife is inspired by the soft suspension of Blackie Collins' Ducati motorcycle - In 1996 he partnered with Bill Meyer to create the Meyerco knife company. The two were immediate pioneers in the knife world, being the first company to launch an assisted-opening knife. Today Meyerco is credited with the invention of the spring-loaded knife. - Blackie Collins holds over 60 patents for knife mechanisms and many design patents for cutlery products. He was a cutlery legend and will be greatly missed.
