The Smilodon, commonly known as the saber-toothed tiger, was an extinct large feline that lived during the Pleistocene, between 2.5 million and 10,000 years ago. It was a member of the felid family and was distinguished by its unique features, particularly its huge saber-shaped upper canines.

The Smilodon was larger than present-day tigers, with a length of about 1.6-1.8 meters and a height at withers of about 1 meter. Its weight could range from 200 to 400 kilograms. The Smilodon's most distinctive feature were its upper canines, which could reach a length of more than 20 centimeters. These canines were extremely sharp and adapted for grasping and stinging prey. Smilodon is believed to have been a specialized predator, hunting large mammals such as Pleistocene herbivores. Its hunting technique was probably based on a powerful pounce and the use of its canines to maul the throat of prey. It is likely that its powerful bite was capable of severely damaging the bones of its victims.

Despite its impressive appearance, Smilodon was not closely related to present-day tigers, but represented a separate evolutionary branch. It is thought to have become extinct due to climate change and the disappearance of its main prey at the end of the Pleistocene.

Knife launched on the market in 2014 by Fox Knives, civilian version of their Spartan Defender Military Bayonet. It has the distinction of having a trapezoidal polymer handle with the blade offset upward from the user's grip. Model now discontinued and replaced by the "Spartan 2 Leonidas" currently in production, decidedly more canonical in appearance, conformation and materials.

Pohl Force's Quebec series is a classic mission knife that has been at the top of founder and designer Dietmar Pohl's wish list for many decades. In 2014, Pohl Force received exclusive permission from the original manufacturer to use the basic design for its interpretation.

Developed as the Ground Forces Combat & General Purpose Weapon, the multi-purpose knife was designed for the U.S. Marine Corps in the early 1950s. Although it was never officially introduced, it clearly demonstrated its capabilities in the Vietnam War, especially in the hands of American special forces. Almost 70 years after its first design, the modern Pohl Force interpretation of this classic represents the perfect fusion of old-school classic design and modern high-tech production.

Designer Dietmar Pohl has revised the design of the Quebec One and expanded the knife's range of functions. With the new Compact models, designer Dietmar Pohl has developed a series of extremely robust and very compact knives for everyday use.

The focus is on the massive, classic Bowie blade of the Compact One, which is 88 millimeters long and designed to be enormously solid with a thickness of 6 mm. The well-known D2 tool steel was chosen for the blade's high cutting strength and resilience. Designed by David Repossini, instructor of Krav-Maga with decades of experience in martial arts and combat systems in the military, was founded with the purpose of joining a blade with a survival for the fight, trying to be more effective than high knives already in business. Materiali e lavorazioni:
Tutte le parti del coltello sono ricavate dal pieno da macchine a controllo numerico ad alta precisione mentre l'assemblaggio, l'aggiustaggio e l'affilatura sono condotte artigianalmente.
La lama è in acciaio inossidabile al cobalto N690,un acciaio dalle elevatissime caratteristiche di resistenza alle sollecitazioni meccaniche, capacità ditaglio, tenuta del filo e resistenza alla corrosione.L'arrotatura è piana e la durezza è di 58HRC.
Le guancette dell'impugnatura sono in Anticorodal, unalega di alluminio con elevate doti di resistenza alle sollecitazioni meccaniche ed all'ossidazione.
Il codolo, in N690 temprato, è un efficace frangi cristalli d'emergenza. Tutta la viteria, i perni e laclip sono in acciaio inox brunito. La lama, la leva edil codolo sono ricoperti con trattamento Testudo,molto resistente all'abrasione ed all'ossidazione.Le guancette sono anodizzate nere.

The new AVES has been designed especially for pilots as a survival and emergency knife. The extremely massive, spherical ground blade is coated with DLC and comes as close as possible to the concept of "indestructible" with the material thickness of 6 mm across its entire surface. Despite its compact design, this blade and its width have a very high degree of hacking efficiency. This spares the deeply retracted edge of the belt cutter with its lines and also allows it to be used with a fitted Kydex sheath, a benefit not to be underestimated in tight cockpits. In addition, this knife includes a second sheath made of Cordura. It is MOLLE-compatible and can also be worn on the lower leg. The handle end is formed as a lever/screwdriver. Directly derived from military specifications, this fold has been developed to replace a fixed blade in use.

To achieve this result, very strong materials, high thicknesses and a solid and safe opening and closing system were used: the back lock.
The knife is equipped with a manual safety device which confers maximum safety in use and reduces the risk of accidental closure in manieradrastica.
The safety device, if inserted in closing, prevents the knife from being turned against itself in the case of subtraction.

Materials and workmanship:

All parts of the knife are machined from high-precision CNC machines, while assembly, adjustment and sharpening are carried out by hand.
The blade is made of cobalt N690 stainless steel, a steel with very high resistance to mechanical stress, cutting capacity, thread strength and corrosion resistance. The grinding is flat and the hardness is 58HRC.
The grips of the handle are in Anticorodal, an aluminum alega with high resistance to mechanical stress and oxidation.
The tang, in hardened N690, is an effective emergency crystals. All screws, pins and clips are in burnished stainless steel. The blade, the lever and the shank are covered with Testudo treatment, very resistant to abrasion and oxidation. The cheeks are black anodized.
