Thorin was born in the year 2746 of the Third Era (T.E.), son of Thráin II and grandson of King Thrór, and heir to the title of King under the Mountain in Erebor. After the death of his father in 2841, Thorin became the new leader of his people and began to prepare a plan to be able to retake Erebor and kill Smaug.
