The most distinctive—and patented—feature of the Buckmaster Buck 184 is the presence of two removable, screw-mounted harpoons, or hooks. Their primary function is to provide an anchor point: the knife can, in fact, be used as a sort of throwing hook by attaching a rope to the ring on the pommel. The manufacturer claimed the grappling hooks had a holding capacity of up to 600 pounds.

In the case of the Navy SEALs, the requirement was for a knife that could also be used underwater and, if necessary, allow for the anchoring of equipment or vehicles to a submerged anchor point. This specific requirement contributed to the choice of an all-steel construction, designed to offer strength and durability even under harsh underwater operating conditions.

Fans and collectors of the Osborne family, one of Benchmade's most iconic models, will notice the classic inverted blade shape paired with a brand new pattern on the Damasteel® blade. Called Ægir ™, the motif is inspired by Norse mythology and takes design cues from the Baltic Sea. The new design has carbon "Arctic Storm" grips with flowing blue accents and gold-plated floating rear spacers that give this limited edition Osborne a cool look, like the icy waters off the Swedish coast. This one of a kind knife completes the 940 Osborne family with an eye-catching style to augment the EDC collection.

ARTIST INFORMATION
Casey Underwood is an artist who loves the outdoors and resides in Bozeman, Montana. Casey began working full-time in 2015 and has since become one of the most recognizable artists in the outdoor industry. As a prolific illustrator, he has amassed a collection of work that includes more than 100 species of fish and wildlife. Commercially, his freelance drawings are often commissioned by some of the outdoor industry's leading brands. Sharp edges, layers of color, and dashed lines are some of the defining characteristics of Casey's style. When he is not in his studio creating new work, he is likely fishing, hunting, or skiing!
