Bowie knives originated in the United States in the early 19th century and were considered reliable work knives, even occasionally used in combat. Typical of these fixed knives is the massive blade, with a characteristic design, usually more than 15 cm long and with a guard to protect the hand.

As a variant suitable for everyday use, the Chuck Gedraitis Boker Plus Pocket Bowie combines the fascination of the Bowie knife with the flexibility and compactness of a pocket knife. Equipped with a satin-finished Bowie blade made of D2, the three-finger knife easily copes with all day-to-day tasks.

The knife opens via the pull-out thumb stud, while the stainless steel linerlock reliably locks the blade in place.

Company History.
In 1938, Rudy Ruana began making knives in a small store in Montana. Members of his family continue to this day to handcraft Ruana knives in the same store. In 1964 Ruana's son-in-law, Vic Hangas, left a job with a telephone company and put his artistic talents to good use, joining Ruana in the business. Hangas' son Mark began working in the business in 1976. In 1983, Ruana retired at the age of 80 and sold the business to the Hangas family. In 1984 Mike Hangas joined his brother and father and the company was incorporated. Rudy Ruana died in April 1986. He was honored with posthumous induction into the American Bladesmith Society's Hall of Fame in 1997 and Blade magazine's Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2002.

Ruana knives are still handmade in the small Montana store where Rudy Ruana began forging blades more than 80 years ago. In an era of outsourcing and diminishing Made in America products, Ruana knives are still handmade in the United States, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Although some things have changed over the years, still using the same methods and much of the same equipment used by Rudy Ruana.

"In our laboratory in Bresso (MI) there are two of us working: Simone and Gabriella, a couple born in 1996.
Bevels and tempering are carried out by us personally, using special machinery such as belt sanders and tempering ovens. For the finishes, on the other hand, we use files and sandpaper with which we make our satin and polishing of blades and handles by hand.
In the case of more complex coatings such as pvd in this case, we turn to specialized companies.
For the handles we prefer carbon guards and stabilized wood that we work following our design and the geometries that characterize us.
Once the knife is finished we take care of the sheath, also made and sewn completely by hand in leather.

Nel caso di rivestimenti più complessi come in questo caso il pvd, ci rivolgiamo ad aziende specializzate.
Per i manici prediligiamo le guardie in carbonio e il legno stabilizzato che lavoriamo seguendo il nostro design e le geometrie che ci caratterizzano.
