Company History.
In 1938, Rudy Ruana began making knives in a small store in Montana. Members of his family continue to this day to handcraft Ruana knives in the same store. In 1964 Ruana's son-in-law, Vic Hangas, left a job with a telephone company and put his artistic talents to good use, joining Ruana in the business. Hangas' son Mark began working in the business in 1976. In 1983, Ruana retired at the age of 80 and sold the business to the Hangas family. In 1984 Mike Hangas joined his brother and father and the company was incorporated. Rudy Ruana died in April 1986. He was honored with posthumous induction into the American Bladesmith Society's Hall of Fame in 1997 and Blade magazine's Cutlery Hall of Fame in 2002.

Ruana knives are still handmade in the small Montana store where Rudy Ruana began forging blades more than 80 years ago. In an era of outsourcing and diminishing Made in America products, Ruana knives are still handmade in the United States, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Although some things have changed over the years, still using the same methods and much of the same equipment used by Rudy Ruana.

"In our laboratory in Bresso (MI) there are two of us working: Simone and Gabriella, a couple born in 1996.
Bevels and tempering are carried out by us personally, using special machinery such as belt sanders and tempering ovens. For the finishes, on the other hand, we use files and sandpaper with which we make our satin and polishing of blades and handles by hand.
In the case of more complex coatings such as pvd in this case, we turn to specialized companies.

Surgical precision, a clean cut, and a sense of pride in what you've achieved: the Böker Plus scalpel knife by Alexander Krava provides the dexterity needed for everyday, delicate cutting tasks. Extrema Ratio S-THIL STONE WASHED is a tactical backup knife with monolithic construction machined from a single piece of 5 mm thick BOHLER N690 steel, developed in collaboration with Thilo designer Arnd Schiller.

The blade, a spear point type, is hardened to 58 HRC in order to achieve the best balance of edge retention and strength, features a false counterbore at the top that enhances penetration and point work characteristics, and has a full-length groove (fuller) that flows elegantly from the blade to the handle. The blade is milled integrally to the knife to enhance its compactness and lightness, maintaining a minimal thickness while still having a profile reminiscent of the classic Extrema Ratio handle.

That profile goes to form two small guards and a comfortable thumb rest to prevent the hand from slipping towards the blade. On the end are a skull crusher with a diamond-shaped tip and a slot that allows a wrist strap to be attached to the knife or the handle to be fitted with paracord coiling.

The molded nylon sheath is designed to be extremely flat with very small side dimensions to make it as compact as possible. The design of the knife makes it ambidextrous, allowing it to be inserted into the sheath with the blade cutting edge to the right or left. The double retention system integral to the sheath consists of four pressure elements that work only two at a time, depending on right/left-handed use, while the nylon textile part has a button that allows the knife to be secured to the sheath.

The end of the sheath has a hole to expel liquids or debris inside. The ability to attach belt clip, ulticlip, malice clip makes it extremely versatile. You can also attach the sheath to the M.O.L.L.E. system by braiding the paracord.

The M-PAT was created by U.S. military service member Seth Brown and was designed specifically for fighter jet crews. The distinctive design, the Tracker concept with two separate blades, the impact-resistant 1095 carbon steel and the remarkable price-performance ratio quickly made Dave Wenger's Boker Plus Mini Tracker a top seller in the bushcraft and outdoor scene. Extrema Ratio S-THIL Black Warfare, a special version of the S-THIL model, is a backup knife with a monolithic structure machined from a single piece of 5 mm thick BOHLER N690 steel, developed in collaboration with the designer Thilo Arnd Schiller. - The CPM-3V was developed by Crucible Industries LLC - a world leader in the 62-63 HRC sintered metallurgical steel market.

The universal wide point blade with high saber sharpening has always been the hunter's favorite shape for both large and small game and is suitable for both precision and heavier tasks. The tang is continuous and protrudes a few millimeters from the end of the handle. This ensures maximum stability and the tang can withstand even powerful blows with a log or other object.

TPE - thermoplastic elastomer - was chosen as the material of the handle, which completely encloses the tang and has a structure that guarantees a good grip in any load direction. TPE is strong, elastic, non-slip and has low thermal conductivity.

The knife features a leather sheath featuring a 9.3cm metal firelighter from market leader Light My Fire, which fits into a large, snug leather ring firmly integrated into the piping.

These features make the BRONCO Boker a tool for survival in an environment also of wild nature, compact, versatile and complete, at the height of any situation.
