La Cantina

It all started with a passion for blades inherited from the father of a boy from Milan, Simone, who became more and more informed about the various techniques of making them until he decided to try making them himself, implementing all those notions learned over time and experimenting, improvising as needed. Gabriella's help was instrumental in starting this small business, which, thanks to her artistic skills, takes care of the design, sheaths and packaging. Following the move from the first workshop that was now too small, we settled in Milan in the basement of a generous Uncle Lele, always there to give advice and support; from here we had the opportunity to work with Matteo who, with his past as an artist and sculptor, makes the handles with great involvement and precision. In addition to the beauty of the handcrafted knife itself, it is fascinating to see how the object can take shape from the union of various raw materials that combine perfectly giving life, through our hands, to such a functional object. La Cantina's blades take shape from sinuous and decisive lines, are heated in our forges and finished with immense attention to detail and precision, until we assemble all the components and thus compose a unique piece of craftsmanship.

    Company Information:

"In our workshop in Bresso (MI), two of us work: Simone and Gabriella, a couple born in 1996.
We personally carry out beveling and tempering, using specific machinery like belt sanders and tempering ovens. For the finishes, we use files and sandpaper to manually create our satin and polish finishes on blades and handles.
In the case of more complex coatings like PVD in this instance, we turn to specialized companies.

For the handles, we prefer carbon guards and stabilized wood, which we work following our design and characteristic geometries.
Once the knife is completed, we take care of the sheath, which is also entirely handmade and sewn from leather.
What we offer is a handcrafted product followed in all its phases and that can be appreciated both for its lines and used as a tool.
