The knife from Rambo: First Blood, the first installment in the series, is one of the most famous examples of a modern survival knife. Designed by master knife maker Jimmy Lile at the specific request of Sylvester Stallone, it was not intended as a simple prop, but as a real, functional and useful tool in an extreme survival context.

In the film, John Rambo is a former Green Beret veteran of Vietnam, an expert in guerrilla warfare and environmental adaptation. The knife becomes a symbol of his self-sufficiency: a sturdy blade, a serrated back for cutting wood and thin metal, a hollow handle with a waterproof seal to hold a small emergency kit (matches, string, hooks), and a flat pommel that can be used as a hammer or mallet. A sharpening stone was also integrated into the sheath, highlighting the philosophy of “don't depend on anything other than what you carry with you.”

The design of the Rambo 1 knife anticipates the myth of the lone hero capable of surviving against nature and man, and defines an aesthetic that would influence the production of survival knives for the entire following decade. Even today, the original Lile models are considered highly collectible items, testimony to the union between cinema and true knife-making artistry.

The knife from Rambo: First Blood Part II — often called the “Mission” or “Rambo II knife” — is the work of master American knife maker Jimmy Lile.

Created at the request of Sylvester Stallone, the model was designed not as a simple movie prop but as a real survival knife: a long, sturdy blade, partially serrated back, and handle designed for prolonged use and to hold small emergency accessories. 

Lile's design, much more aggressive than the knife in the first film, emphasizes the character's transformation into an even more operational and autonomous figure in the field.

The film, released in 1985 and directed by George P. Cosmatos, helped transform this knife into a popular icon: from a functional tool to a symbol of adventure and resilience.

The KS model represents a fusion of experience and innovation. Under the command of Gandalf the WhiteTM the men of Gondor defended Minas Tirith, the Kingdom of Gondor, from within the city walls against the siege of Sauron. Greatly outnumbered by Sauron´s armies, the Gondorian infantry did not stand a chance in open war. Miraculously, with the use of their trebuchets and archers, the Gondorian army held their own until the nine Nazgûl, upon their fell beasts, swooped in destroying the trebuchets and forcing men to flee their posts. This distraction allowed the trolls to push their siege towers in, unleashing scores of orcs onto the walls of the city, and allowing the release of Mordor´s greatest weapon - Grond, a 150 foot iron battering ram shaped like a wolf. The gates of the city would not hold, driving the Gondorians back into the third level of the city. 

With much of the lower levels of Gondor in flames, it seemed as if it was on the verge of a catastrophic defeat, until suddenly the Riders of the Rohirrim appeared on the horizon, closing in and driving the armies of Mordor away from the city, thus ending the siege upon Gondor and entering into the Battle of the Pelennor fields. Although the Gondorians were technologically advanced compared to most races of Middle-earth, the design of the helm carries details reminiscent of Numenor. The barbut style helm - one piece, shoulder-length, and open-faced - finished off the suit of steel plate armor that a Gondorian infantryman wore. The smooth finish and flared bottom of the helm offered better neck protection, allowing blows to be deflected away from the body. Adorned on the sides of the helm are seabird wings, a familiar Gondorian motif.

Tauriel is a Silvan Elf and daughter of Mirkwood. Her parents were killed by orcs when she was younger and it is hinted that Thranduil looked after her since then. She is a very young elf, around the age of 600, and is insightful into the changing nature of Middle Earth, recognizing the growing evils of the world and the need to eradicate them rather than withdraw into the safety of the elven fortress.

A favorite of King Thranduil and Captain of his Woodland Elven Guard, Tauriel is highly effective and lethal in combat, and primarily employs a reflex bow and two daggers in battle.
