After more than 40 years of service in the U.S. Army Special Forces, Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey founded Spartan Blades LLC in North Carolina.

Curtis, who had been designing and crafting knives for his friends in the special forces for years, and Mark, who had always dealt with military and tactical gear during his time with the “Green Berets,” decided to combine their expertise and passion with the goal of building innovative and functional knives using the highest-quality materials and manufactured entirely in the United States.

New version with Damax™ Damascus steel blade by Alleima, a new high-end industrial Damascus steel, obtained using an innovative technique that allows for the large-scale production of up to 135 layers of martensitic stainless steel. This material maintains the same quality and aesthetic appeal as handcrafted Damascus steel, but with an efficient, repeatable, and more accessible industrial process.

Production takes place in collaboration with Balbachdamast GmbH & Co. KG, a German company specializing in Damascus forging, creating the world's first industrial production of true Damascus steel. The new steel is suitable for multiple applications, from kitchen cutlery to outdoor cutlery.

Alleima, formerly Sandvik Materials Technology, is a global manufacturer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys, and industrial heating solutions, based in Sandviken (Sweden), with over 5,500 employees and customers in approximately 90 countries.
