Glamdring was the sword forged for the Elven Lord Turgon in the First Age.
It has been lost for thousands of years, until it was found by Gandalf (along with Goad and Orcrist) in the Trolls' lair in The Hobbit, who kept it to himself, and continued to wear it throughout the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. .

Glamdring is translated "Battenemici", and the orcs in The Hobbit disparagingly refer to it as "Hammer".

Glamdring, together with her twin Orcrist, come in The Hobbit as accompanied by splendid scabbards and with the handle richly decorated with jewels.
In the Unfinished Tales, one of the notes to Tuon's story was "... white and gold ... in an ivory sheath ..." Glamring bench is not mentioned, assuming it is the definite sword.

Under the command of Gandalf the WhiteTM the men of Gondor defended Minas Tirith, the Kingdom of Gondor, from within the city walls against the siege of Sauron. Greatly outnumbered by Sauron´s armies, the Gondorian infantry did not stand a chance in open war. Miraculously, with the use of their trebuchets and archers, the Gondorian army held their own until the nine Nazgûl, upon their fell beasts, swooped in destroying the trebuchets and forcing men to flee their posts. This distraction allowed the trolls to push their siege towers in, unleashing scores of orcs onto the walls of the city, and allowing the release of Mordor´s greatest weapon - Grond, a 150 foot iron battering ram shaped like a wolf. The gates of the city would not hold, driving the Gondorians back into the third level of the city. 

With much of the lower levels of Gondor in flames, it seemed as if it was on the verge of a catastrophic defeat, until suddenly the Riders of the Rohirrim appeared on the horizon, closing in and driving the armies of Mordor away from the city, thus ending the siege upon Gondor and entering into the Battle of the Pelennor fields. Although the Gondorians were technologically advanced compared to most races of Middle-earth, the design of the helm carries details reminiscent of Numenor. The barbut style helm - one piece, shoulder-length, and open-faced - finished off the suit of steel plate armor that a Gondorian infantryman wore. The smooth finish and flared bottom of the helm offered better neck protection, allowing blows to be deflected away from the body. Adorned on the sides of the helm are seabird wings, a familiar Gondorian motif.

King Arthur’s history and legend is intimately linked to the magic and mysterious sword “Excalibur”. As Merlin the wizard has proclaimed, only the one able to take the sword out of the stone would be the king.

Arthur, knelt in front of the stone fulfilled this deed, took the sword, went with it to the cathedral and offered it in the altar.

Arthur was anointed with the Sacred Oil and, in presence of all the barons and common people, he solemnly swore to be a fair king and to defend Truth and Justice all the days of his life.

Legend and history were mixed through time and King Arthur’s legend, The Knights of the Round Table and the magic sword “Excalibur” have intertwined along the way.

Thorin was born in the year 2746 of the Third Era (T.E.), son of Thráin II and grandson of King Thrór, and heir to the title of King under the Mountain in Erebor. He also had two younger brothers, Frerin and Dís. In the year 2770, the Dragon Smaug, attracted by the wealth of the kingdom of Erebor, attacked him violently. The Dwarves, struck by surprise, were literally outclassed by the strength and powers of Smaug who, in a short time, managed to conquer the whole kingdom, conquer its spoils, and forced Thorin and his people to abandon their home. A few years later, the ogre Azog the Defiler began the battle of Azanulbizar (2799) at Nanduhirion at the Eastern Gate of Moria.

On this occasion, Thorin's shield was shattered and he used his ax to cut an oak branch using it as a shield, thus earning the epithet "Oakenshield". Thanks to Thorin's bravery, the enemy troops were driven back and the dwarf army was able to triumph.

After this last battle, Thorin led his people to the Blue Mountains, west of Eriador.
After the death of his father in 2841, Thorin became the new leader of his people and began to prepare a plan to be able to retake Erebor and kill Smaug.

I soldati più feroci della Black Legion erano sicuramentei Barumen di Lokonia, dotati di pesanti armature in piastre diacciaio e cuoio ed armati di due grandi Battle Axes, forgiate dagli elfi oscuri, ed usate con effetti e tecniche devastanti.

Le Battle Axes portate da ogni singolo Barumen erano identiche, con splendenti lame incise dalla forma curva e ad uncino, avevano impugnaturein cuoio cucito a mano ed un pomolo acuminato per poter frantumarequalsiasi cosa sotto il suo peso.

La conformazione della lama di queste armi permetteva di usarlein modo tradizionale ma potevano anche agganciare i nemici inertie trascinarli a se per devastarli con l'altra battle Axe. Un'ulterioretecnica era quella di utilizzarle con estrema precisione come armi da lancio. Spesso i nemici, intravedendo i Barumen e le loroletali Battle Axes tra gli schieramenti della Black Legion, preferivano battersi in ritirata che incontrare quelle terribili lame.

Con questa spada, frutto della collaborazione con Davis Panzer Productions, inizia la storia di Highlander ed ora Marto presenta questa splendida riproduzione dettagliatissima.

Questa infatti è la spada originale del Clan MacLeod impugnata dal giovane Connor MacLeod nella sua battaglia fatale contro il Kurgan ed utilizzata poi come lapide per custodire la sua amata moglie scomparsa, Heather.
