The “Aoi” motif is inspired by the leaf of Asarum heterotropoides, commonly known as the “Aoi leaf” or Hollyhock. It is one of Japan’s oldest and most famous heraldic symbols, often associated with the Tokugawa family, which ruled the country for over 250 years during the Edo period. This emblem represents nobility, protection, and stability, and is highly valued for its simple yet elegant form.
