Robert I Bruce was king of Scotland from 1306 to 1329. Of Norman and Scottish Gaelic ancestry, he was one of the greatest kings of Scotland, and also one of the most famous warriors of his era. He led Scotland against the Kingdom of England during the Scottish Independence Wars.
He was the great-grandson of David I of Scotland and was often at odds with the Scottish hero William Wallace.
