Mariner 2 – Heritage Series - The perfect EDC, born from legend.

The STA Sniper blade was designed for a USMC scout/sniper and STA training group instructor in Phoenix, Arizona. Medford wanted to offer something completely unique to the Sniper's craft and his particular needs.

A clever design that utilises the integration of innovative tools with classic knife elements for a perfect blend of form and function. The 1/2" spanner in the handle fits almost any scope mounting system ring, the hilt screwdriver adjusts to turret adjustments, the measuring marks on the back are extremely convenient for both scouting and sniping, and the LTRE (Look Through Range Estimator) can significantly improve sight distance estimation up to 400 metres. The blade is extremely robust for field work and the compact size allows easy placement in any kit/equipment.

The Ti-Lock mechanism was originally designed to isolate the locking mechanism from the handle of the knife so that it can offer greater freedom of design. Knife withdrawn from private collection, dates from the very first production in 1984 (in fact, it does not indicate the patent engravings, affixed in 1985 and does not indicate the production date, affixed only from 1986). Globally in good condition, it has marks on the blade and handle due to the normal passage of time and the very aggressive scabbard which, containing a spring-loaded metal foil, irreparably scratches the blade both in insertion and extraction - It still has the factory sharpening and comes with a compass in the tang and two harpoons already engaged on the guard branch; lacking instead the box and additional accessories - Checked and certified by our in-house laboratory.

Notes: The feature, patented, is the presence of two removable screw-on harpoons/hooks. The function of these is simple anchorage. In fact, this knife can be used as a throwing hook by attaching a rope to the ring on the pommel. The manufacturer guarantees a harpoon hold of up to 600 pounds. The Navy Seals, specifically, had requested a knife that could be used underwater in order to anchor the vehicles to an underwater attachment point, and that is the reason for the total steel construction.
