Howard Hitchmough was born and raised in London, where he began working in 1958 as a manufacturer of surgical instruments and during the early 1960s to produce hunting knives. In those years Howard, fascinated by the locking mechanisms, began to build folding knives. In 1982, he began attending knife shows in the United States and shortly thereafter, in 1985 he became a full time knife manufacturer. In 1997, Howard moved from England to New Hampshire where he built a high-end laboratory. Hitchmough is today a highly rated Knifemaker for the high level of his production and for the continuous ability to study and evolve his creations for quality and precision.
