Il taster è un bicchiere dai contorni ben definiti, piccolo, leggero, facile da riporre, in grado di dare risalto alle caratteristiche di ogni vino (colore, aroma, omogeneità del gusto).

Questo bicchiere va tenuto con due dita, quindi agitato con forza, per fornire aria al vino e per farlo aprire. Respirando col naso oltre all'apertura del bicchiere, è possibile assaporare gli aromi più gravi.
Nella parte più prossima all'apertura è possibile invece assaporare l'intera gamma di odori.
