A typical Piedmontese knife originating from the village of Vernante, in the province of Cuneo, in use since the beginning of the 19th century also in nearby Liguria. It is characterised by a forged button on the upper part of the blade's heel, which allows it to fit into the hollow of the handle with the blade open, acting as a stop.
