For this year's Damast Annual Knife we collaborate for the first time with Ricardo Romano Bernandes. Romano, whose family originates from Sicily, was born in Brazil, has been a knife maker since 1990 and his craft is part of a tradition of knife making and sharpening established over several generations. His design is based on traditional Pen Knives and immediately inspired us with its casual freshness.

For the modern interpretation of a traditional knife shape, the powder metallurgical damask of the Swedish company Damasteel seemed to us the appropriate material for the blade. Damasteel's production requires - even if the most modern technical means are used - just as much skill and experience as the hand-forging of steel. The purity and properties of Damasteel steel can be optimised to the extreme with complex combination processes.

The self-supporting structure in blue and grey rolled G10 contrasts beautifully with Damasteel's 'Odin Eye' motif. The simple but always functional slip joint is an obligatory part of this knife. The size, weight, indestructible G10 sheaths and stainless Damasteel make this collector's knife an excellent EDC. Limited to 999 examples worldwide.

Boker Plus Appalachian axes feature a Rhine-shaped axe head made of 1055 carbon steel, a choice that represents an above-average carbon content and material standard even for quality axes. The universal blade thickness is suitable for both felling and splitting. The lower tip (heel) of the 10.7-cm-long cutting edge can be used as a turning point for wood pieces. The steel is protected from rust by a protective lacquer. A versatile weight of 600g was chosen for the heads of both axes. Only 9 exclusive pieces of this excellent bushcraft knife produced by Fox of Maniago have been made, using for this edition the Japanese V-Toku2 steel in 5mm Sanmai produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel instead of the Niolox used in the standard model.

For this 2022 collaboration, between the Collini Cutlery of Busto Arsizio and the Fox of Maniago, we have decided to propose the 103MB Outdoor model designed by Reichart Markus. Only 18 exclusive pieces of this excellent bushcraft knife produced by Fox of Maniago were made, using for this edition the Japanese V-Toku2 steel in Sanmai 5mm produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel instead of the Niolox used in the series model.

Specifically, we used V-Toku2 carbonaceous at 62 / 63HRC for the central plate and SUS410 stainless steel for the two external plates, in order to guarantee, in addition to a beautiful aesthetic effect, a very high cutting capacity, penetration and sealing of the wire together with an ease of re-sharpening and maintenance. At the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of external steel and by the laminated structure.
