The M-PAT was created by U.S. military service member Seth Brown and was designed specifically for fighter jet crews. Its slim profile and sturdy size are designed it specifically so that it can be carried on the safety vest or otherwise at the top of the torso in order to cause as little discomfort as possible while in the flight deck. It is ideal for vertical carrying and, thanks to the two retention modes of the sheath, it will not go anywhere until you need it. The M-PAT's applications extend outside the cockpit and it is perfectly suited to a belt or tactical vest. It is always handy when you need it and out of the way when you don't. The Rocky Mountain Spike is the result of several months of testing and fine-tuning in the field. The original design was to flank or add a large knife, such as a TOPS Machete or Power Eagle, to offer the user a variety of other applications on smaller projects. The size and steel mass of large knives certainly have their place. However, every once in a while a situation arises where one wishes to have a smaller knife, and particularly one with a narrow blade.

After using and abusing the prototypes in the field, those who have tested the small Rocky Mountain have seen a wide variety of cutting, scraping, splitting, EDC, and separating tasks for which this tool can be used effectively.

We now believe that the Rocky Mountain Spike is an excellent stand-alone toolfor hikers, bikers, campers, boaters, weekend outdoor enthusiasts, and long trips. It can be worn on your belt or kept in your backpack, boot or any other convenient place. Whether it is for general outdoor activities, at work or at home, this is the tool for you.
