Knife without spring with a very characteristic line, representative of the peasant and pastoral civilization of the Bergamo valleys where it was made with a wooden handle. Practical and light, in its simplicity it is one of the most beautiful knives of the Italian tradition and has long been appreciated well outside its original area. The "Roman" testifies to the widespread mentality in the Papal States for which the knife was considered as a faithful friend to be constantly worn "in his pocket" and to be unleashed at the first hint of a fight or for an immediate response.

Many elements constituting the "Roman" bear witness to the offensive use that distinguished this knife: the sharp blade, the decorations of the lattice handle or fish bone that served to improve the grip, the locking system with fixed spring that prevented the knife could close up accidentally and that at the time of the opening emitted a dry noise that exalted the aggressive expression.
