However, we chose to use less expensive materials in manufacturing: for example, instead of G-10 handles we used GFN and for the blade steel we chose to use an AUS 10A instead of CPM-S35VN while still remaining razor sharp and ready for action!

For almost a decade, Cold Steel® offered a wicked-looking little boot knife called the Culloden®. It was based on the traditional Scottish 'black knife' or 'Skean Dhu' as it is more commonly called in Gaelic, the ancient language of Scotland.

The Caledonian Edge™ features a number of modern variations and refinements over its predecessor. The blade is made of a virtually unbreakable San Mai III® construction and, like the original Skean Dhu, features a thin, sharp point, as sharp as the proverbial needle. 

The traditional tang seen on the Skean Dhu of yesteryear has been retained and provides an aggressive, non-slip platform for the thumb and forefinger, allowing for better control when using the blade to cut or pierce.

The handle of the Caledonian Edge™ has a profile that hugs the palm of the hand and a relatively thin cross-section that enhances its qualities. It is flat enough not to roll or twist in the palm of the hand, yet comfortable enough to accommodate a wide range of grip styles. FROM COLD STEEL WEBSITE

The Oyabun Limited is a high-end collector's version of our Oyabun. It shares features in common with the standard model in terms of functionality and appearance, but differs greatly in the materials used in its construction. It also has the value of being a collectible keepsake as only 3500 were produced. Each one is serially numbered and each box will be personally signed by Lynn C. Thompson himself! The blade's fine S35VN steel is an expensive powder coated steel that is heat treated to Rc 59-60 and hardened to sub zero. It has been given an attractive two-tone finish on the blade planes and a high satin polish on the blade bevels. Notably, the handle frame is milled from two solid billets of 6061 aluminum to create the bolster and pommel, which has been given a beautiful mirror polished finish. The handle also features CNC-machined G-10 plates with a diamond checkerboard pattern for a good, secure grip.

History of the coin:

The introduction of the yen occurred in 1872 by the Meiji government and replaced by an excessively complex monetary system of the Edo period.Initially, the yen was minted in gold, until 1888 and then moved to silver, until 1914

Designed by Mike Wallace, the Immortal model was inspired by the shape of the famous Roman dagger
