The Extrema Ratio Frame Rock is a new knife, based on the Ti-Rock project, a successful frame-lock knife made by Extrema Ratio in 2016 exclusively for Coltelleria Collini.

The Extreme Ratio Frame Rock is characterized by a titanium handle that offers great resistance while being very light. The integrity of the frame-lock system is guaranteed against wear by an easily replaceable hardened steel insert.

Unlike its drop-point predecessor, the Rock frame has a 75mm long, 6.0mm thick spearpoint blade fitted with a fuller for further lightening. The blade is made of Bohler N690 steel, heat treated to a hardness of 58 HRC. The same is available with a black finish with DLC treatment or satin.

To make opening even more fluid and without uncertainty, the blade rotates on ball bearings. This mechanism allows the user to adjust the force necessary to obtain the release of the blade from the closed position.

The shape of the reversible clip allows a hidden port in the pocket, making the knife not visible from the outside. The large and solid handle and the well-proportioned blade allow this knife to tackle heavy tasks. The Frame Rock weighs less than 200g, making it somewhat light for such a sturdy knife. Comes inside an ABS box.

More than just a damask, Coreless steel made by Japanese Takefu Steel comes with over 70 layers of VG10 and VG2 stainless steel welded, forged and coated between them so that you can form a lightweight, slim and durable blade with a spectacular damask outer pattern.

The peculiarity of Coreless steel, unlike conventional rolled steel or Japanese San-Mai, is that it does not have a hard core steel that is used for the cutting edge but has both the VG10 and VG2 steels arranged to form the cutting edge so alternating and sequential to each other.

This particular construction gives the blade - compared to the two steels that make it, individually taken - greater resistance to oxidation, higher surface hardness (up to 61.5HRC), 25% more than cutting capacity, 25% more than the wire hold capacity and 25% more resilience making the blade more robust and less subject to breakage.

Thanks to this latest steel, Takefu Steel has been rewarded on Japanese territory for research and development and innovation in the cutting-edge landscape.
