Opinel - The Hermione Oak - 8 stainless steel - knife
The Hermione was a Concorde class frigate of the French Navy, launched in 1779 in Rochefort, France.Entirely made of oak, the ship was 145 feet long (44 meters), weighed 550 tons (1160 tons fully loaded), and was armed with 32 guns of 12 pounds. Aboard dell'Hermione, in 1780, General La Fayette and his crew reached America and fought on the side of the separatists, making the ship one of the symbols of the American War of Independence. To relive that historic trip, in 1997 a group of enthusiasts has created the Hermione project, in Rochefort, creating an exact replica of the ship. These days the ship is the first test at sea. In 2015 he sailed to the United States, retracing the steps of General La Fayette, to arrive in Boston on July 4, the feast day of the United States Independence.
