The collaboration between the writer Nicolai Lilin and Knives Maserin was born on 987 Siberian Knife. The Selvans is born from the collaboration between Extrema Ratio and FISSS (Italian Federation of Sports and Experimental Survival). The project consists of modifying Ontos, a military survival knife, to accentuate and maximize the knife's performance as a hiking tool.

The handle has been lengthened and the blade weighed down to facilitate the effectiveness of the cutting strokes and to make more use of the inertia of the blow.
