Forged knives are fine knives, made using a production process known as forging, which is carried out with a mallet, a machine that exerts tons of pressure on 2 moulds - between which a steel 'billet' is placed, brought to a temperature of around 1200 Celsius - and shapes the piece.
From the shaping of the metal, the typical knife shapes are obtained: the knot and the handle.
One of the characteristics of forged knives is that they are heavier than others, a quality sought after by chefs and professionals who prefer a solid handle and a clean, precise cut.
The forged knife is best suited for cutting raw meats, roasts and thicker vegetables.

Maserin began production in 1960. They have kept the tradition of artisan blacksmiths that gave Maniago, Italy its name as "city of knives". Through its constant growth, Maserin has been able to maintain the prestige of the classic knives made in Maniago unchanged. Mediterraneo line knives are kitchen tools - homely and professional - that conceptually recall three-rivet knives with full length tails, but revisited in their shape and ergonomic lines. The well-molded, highly sharpened, laser-cut blades are heat-treated to provide a hardiness that keeps sharpening longer. POM handles for food, besides being ergonomic, are unalterabile to dishwashing. Mediterraneo line knives are light and versatile, suitable for all types of foods (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, desserts).
