Fällkniven AB celebrates its 40th anniversary in the international knife market with a special version of its bestseller, the F1 Pilot survival knife, now made of high-quality Swedish steel (Elmax). This special model originates from 1987, when the Swedish Air Force commissioned Fällkniven to develop a new survival knife for the technical environment of the JAS 39 Griffin system.

The first delivery of thousands of F1 knives to the Swedish Armed Forces took place in August 1995, and sales to the civilian market began the following year. The success was remarkable: Fällkniven introduced an innovative philosophy for survival knives, in stark contrast to the outdated technologies that had dominated the development of combat and survival knives since World War II.

The M23 Ranger Cub knife features a 6.5-centimeter carbon steel blade with an induction-hardened edge at 62 HRC. Remember that carbon steel always requires some care, so keep the blade clean and wash and dry it after each use. You can also apply a little oil to the blade from time to time. With proper care, corrosion is kept at bay and the blade remains intact.

The handle material is TPV, thermoplastic vulcanized, a type of rubber-like plastic material that resists wear, impact, chemicals and temperature changes almost indefinitely. The secure grip remains firm even in wet conditions.

Thanks to the Kydex sheath, the knife can be easily carried on the belt in a horizontal position.

Knives made in collaboration with Dönges are specialized tools for difficult and demanding rescue operations. What the products have in common are the red G10 handles with non-slip Dönges honeycomb structure, the incredibly tough and high-performance D2 steel blades and the presence of a glass breaker. 

The Expert Fire Folder has two rescue blades that open in opposite directions. While the spear point blade is suitable for universal cutting tasks, the rescue blade has several multifunctional cutting surfaces. In Norse mythology, Andhrimnir tirelessly took care of the physical well-being of the gods and the honorably fallen heroes, who thoroughly enjoyed their existence in the carefree warriors' paradise, Valhalla.

For this purpose, he slaughtered the beast Sæhrimnir day after day, which was then resurrected at night to be eaten again the following day. A fleeting glance at Midgard (the Norse term for earth/world) would have elevated the chef's status even further in the eyes of the gods. On December 9, 1942, during the Second World War, KA-BAR presented a knife to the United States Marine Corps hoping it would become the standard weapon. In collaboration with the Marine Supply Department, the project was revised, and production began on an improved combat and utility knife.

During the war, USMC KA-BAR knives gained such recognition for their quality and abundance that "KABAR" became the common name. It was adopted by the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Underwater Demolition Teams. Years later, many KA-BAR knives were reactivated in Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2019, KA-Bar partnered with Spartan Blades to form Pineland Cutlery. CEO John Stitt aimed to create a "KA-BAR" with improved strength, robustness, and corrosion resistance. During development, metallurgist Larrin Thomas identified CPM MagnaCut® steel with the desired qualities.

CPM MagnaCut® is a sintered high-carbon steel produced by Crucible Industries and specifically designed for blades. Spartan Blades developed the Spartan-KA-BAR using CNC machining, cryogenic treatment, and PVD coatings.
