Spartan Blades - Harsey TT - Kydex, Flat Dark Earth and Camo Micarta - SB43DECMKYTN - knife
The Harsey TT (Tactical Trout) is designed to be a very comfortable and sturdy medium-sized knife for most field tasks and defensive use. The size of the TT makes it easy to carry and handle.
The blade profile provides a clean cut with excellent tip strength. The full tang and handle of the Harsey TT provide neutral balance in the user's hand. The ergonomically shaped, linen Micarta handle provides a comfortable and secure grip when dry or wet. The pommel has a lanyard hole in the center of the angled tip. The TT is an excellent universal fixed blade, well balanced in size, function and feel. In our opinion, one of William Harsey's best designs.
After more than 40 years of service in the U.S. Army Special Forces, Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey founded Spartan Blades LLC in North Carolina. Curtis, who had already been designing and drawing knives for his friends in the Special Forces for years, and Mark, who had always been involved in military and tactical equipment when he served in the "Green Berets," decide to combine their skills and passion with the goal of building innovative and functional knives using the highest quality materials and made entirely in the United States.

The Difensa (named for the famous battle fought by the Canadian / US First Special Service Force during WWII in Italy) is an excellent choice for all around field or battlefield use. We and William Harsey were asked to make a knife for a Canadian special operations force that would serve them well in the north woods of their homeland and on worldwide deployments alike. We believe we have met and exceeded their goals, by creating a combat knife that does everything it should. The spear point profile is flat ground with a tapered top edge that provides for an excellent cutting edge with good tip strength and penetration balance. The Difensa's full tang and handle provide for neutral balance in the users hand. Introducing the new Model 451 full-tang fixed blade field knife, designed and made by Freeman Outdoor Gear LLC.
The CerakoteTM coated LSS PGK steel drop point blade features a main flat grind with a thick secondary swedge for maximum toughness and piercing ability.
The exposed pommel with jimping acts as a flat hammering surface and includes a lanyard attachment hole sized for the included 550 cord lanyard.
The blade is heat treated and double tempered to a hardness of 59-61 Rc and the cutting edge is ground razor sharp at a 40 degree included angle (20 degrees per side).
The handle scales are CNC machined from tough G-10 or optional Canvas Micarta with milled grooves for a secure and comfortable grip. The handle shape provides an ergonomic and balanced grip for use in multiple positions. Enhanced parrot's beak pommel and lower front guard aid in blade retention during chopping. Stainless steel hardware locks all the components into place.

Note from Jeff: Before joining the US Army, I worked for 5 seasons as a wildland firefighter based out of Sweet Home, Oregon.
