The Operator 7 model is huge! TOPS Knives has dared to create an imposing knife with a thick blade and solid handle, creating a balanced tool that excels as a true “workhorse.” At the same time, it retains that classic American combat knife aesthetic, looking as spectacular as it performs.

Made from 8 mm thick 1075 steel, the blade is differentially heat treated: the edge is impact resistant, while the spine is incredibly sturdy. The handle combines sand-colored Micarta on the lower part with black G10 on the upper part, offering optimal grip. Once assembled, the handle is over 2.5 cm thick, shaped to fit perfectly in the user's hand, just like an axe or hatchet handle.

Designed to be useful and comfortable, this knife is for those who don't hold back. It is at home with door kickers, survivalists, and weekend enthusiasts alike. The rounded handles and guard ensure comfort of use, while the finger choil allows for great precision in the most delicate cuts. The 16.5 cm of active edge covers most needs, and the weight of the knife helps to do most of the work itself. The Smilodon, commonly known as the saber-toothed tiger, was an extinct large feline that lived during the Pleistocene, between 2.5 million and 10,000 years ago. It was a member of the felid family and was distinguished by its unique features, particularly its huge saber-shaped upper canines.

The Smilodon was larger than present-day tigers, with a length of about 1.6-1.8 meters and a height at withers of about 1 meter. Its weight could range from 200 to 400 kilograms. The Smilodon's most distinctive feature were its upper canines, which could reach a length of more than 20 centimeters. These canines were extremely sharp and adapted for grasping and stinging prey. Smilodon is believed to have been a specialized predator, hunting large mammals such as Pleistocene herbivores. Its hunting technique was probably based on a powerful pounce and the use of its canines to maul the throat of prey. It is likely that its powerful bite was capable of severely damaging the bones of its victims.

Despite its impressive appearance, Smilodon was not closely related to present-day tigers, but represented a separate evolutionary branch. It is thought to have become extinct due to climate change and the disappearance of its main prey at the end of the Pleistocene.

In collaboration with Wander Tactical we have decided to propose their heavy duty, the Smilodon model, in an exclusive satin blade version that uses the famous Japanese steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. Specifically, for the central plate we used the 61.5HRC CoS (Cobalt Special, mechanically considered 25% higher than the already highly appreciated VG10) and the 420J2 (at 56 HRC) for the two side plates in order to guarantee a very high cutting capacity, but at the same time a remarkable resistance to abrasion, resilience and oxidation resistance.
