  2. Sobral Brothers / CAS Knives - 8" Andes Fighter Bowie San-Mai - PRIVATE COLLECTION - handmade knife

    KNIFE WITHDRAWN FROM PRIVATE COLLECTION
    * Origin: Withdrawn from a private collection, previously purchased
    * Condition: Never used, never removed from its sheath, never displayed; as it is a carbon blade and has remained in its sheath for a long time, it has unfortunately developed small spots of oxidation on the blade, which can be easily removed with a potential re-sharpening. However, it is not possible to remove the oxidation present on the passivating oxidation of the hamon. The price at which it is offered takes into account these aesthetic details, which in no way compromise its potential practical use.
    * Available on the market: unique piece, entirely handmade
    * Sharpening: Factory
    * Marks on blade: small spots of oxidation, some potentially removable (those on the edge and tip of the blade)
    * Marks on handle: None

    CAS Knives is the brand of Argentine brothers Claudio, Ariel, and Marcelo Sobral, artisans specializing in custom knives.

    Claudio, who has been passionate about weapons since he was young, started working in a weapons factory at the age of 16, acquiring skills in forging and metalworking. In 2005, together with Ariel, he turned his passion for knives into a full-time business, which Marcelo joined in 2013, dedicating himself to the creation of sheaths.

    Renowned for their use of the San Mai technique, which combines aesthetics and functionality, the Sobrals combine creativity, craftsmanship, and dedication, working from their workshop in José León Suárez, near Buenos Aires.

    Sardinia boasts a thousand-year-old tradition in metalworking and knife production, with a particular concentration in the Guspinese-Arburese-Gonnese area, historically linked to the mines of Montevecchio. This area is home to iconic models such as the Arburesa and the Guspinese (Sa Kuspidesa), symbols of craftsmanship handed down through the ages. This is where the work of Gian Paolo Cancedda, aka Furitto, comes in. He is a master knife maker who combines loyalty to tradition with technical research, helping to keep Guspinese cutlery alive and recognisable throughout the world.

    Craftsmanship is beautiful because it's varied

    The colors of materials used in handcrafted products may differ from those shown in images.

    Horn, wood, and cornotech are raw materials with inherent variability from batch to batch: that’s the beauty of premium materials. Add to that the artisanal workmanship, where the artisan's hand never repeats the exact same motion: that’s the beauty of handmade work. Put all this together and you'll get a product that is always different and unique. And always different from that one, unrepeatable product that we necessarily have to photograph to show you what we’re offering.

    Nino Morittu creates unique knives, pieces of rare artisanal beauty designed, drawn and finished personally. Each knife is a masterpiece of exceptional craftsmanship, demonstrating his skill in the art of knifemaking. His works, regularly exhibited at various knife shows, have gained wide recognition from collectors and amateurs alike. Morittu prefers the use of C70 type steels and does not produce in large quantities, keeping each piece exclusive thanks to his meticulous artisanal method.

    The precision in the details makes his knives almost perfect, testifying to a deep love for work well done. Aesthetically superb, they represent excellent craftsmanship and a passion for quality materials. Morittu's creations are exhibited in internationally renowned museums such as Albacete in Spain, Montreal in Canada, as well as in the United States and Berlin, Germany.

    Renowned for his perfectionism, Morittu is often compared to Calaresu, another master knifemaker known for his attention to detail. A distinctive feature of his work is the exclusive use of "paired" horns for the handles, ensuring that there are never any visual disparities between the scales.

    Note: The characteristics, brief, are data of the presence of due arpioni/ganci smontabili a vite. The function of the quest is simple ancoraggio. This coltello may be infatti used as the lancio's gancio fissando una corda all'anello present sul pomello. The product guarantees a tenuta of fine arpioni at 600 libbre. I Seals della Marina, nello specifico, avevano richiesto un coltello che potesse essere usato sott'acqua per poter ancorare i mezzi ad un punto de fissaggio subacqueo, ed ecco il reason della totale costruzione en acciaio.
