Designed specifically for the seven Mercury Program astronauts, the Model 17 accompanied these pioneers on the United States' first manned space flights. Astronaut Gordon Cooper contributed to the final design of this knife, making it not only a survival tool, but also a piece of history. Slight regrinding, perfectly centered blade with good retention from closed, fluid opening movement and blade without any horizontal or vertical clearance once opened. The frame lock engages in the first quarter of the race without any uncertainty and without sticking.

Globally in good condition, it shows some small marks on the G11 handles and on the back and belly of the liners. A small abrasion on the blade, on the right side near the tip of the knife.
