Fox - Vulpis Grenade Pattern - Limited Edition - PVD Blackwash M390 & Copper - FX-VPGP130 COB - knife
The VULPIS series was born out of the need to create a compact, versatile multi-purpose knife with a modern design that blends perfectly with our classic products. The inspiration for this line comes from the DUCA, the name of the multi-purpose knife typical of the people of Maniago. This knife originated in the second half of the 19th century in Maniago, when hunting knife sharpeners with blades of various sizes, ivory toothpicks, and tweezers for removing thorns were being produced.
These knives were presented at the 1888 National Exposition in Turin by the Bet Giovanni company, which won a gold medal for the quality of its products. It was likely in this context that Luigi Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of the Abruzzi, decided to visit one of the company’s two stores in Turin, where he saw and ordered the four-blade multi-purpose knife, which he selected as part of the equipment for the North Pole expedition he led in 1899.

For this 2021 collaboration between Coltelleria Collini of Busto Arsizio and Fox Knives of Maniago, we decided to offer the 609OD Bushman, an outstanding bushcraft knife produced by Fox Knives of Maniago, using high-performance Japanese V-Toku2 Sanmai steel (5mm) from Takefu Steel instead of the D2 steel used in the standard model.
Specifically, we used high-carbon V-Toku2 at 62/63HRC for the central core and stainless SUS410 for the outer layers, ensuring exceptional cutting ability, penetration, and edge retention. At the same time, the blade offers high corrosion resistance and increased toughness due to the laminated structure and external stainless steel.
Technical Specifications
Intended Use: Bushcraft, Outdoor, Collection Production Type: Industrial Blade Production: Italy Blade: Full-tang, laminated Japanese steel (San Mai) with a cutting edge in V-Toku2 (high-carbon) at 62/63HRC and outer layers in SUS410 (stainless) Blade Treatment: Satin finish Handle: Micarta Blade Length: 160mm Blade Thickness: 5mm Total Length: 290mm Closed Thickness: - Balance: Forward Weight: 369g Sheath: Leather, belt-carry, ambidextrous, for horizontal or vertical carry Packaging: Cardboard box with Fox logos Edge Grind: Flat with scandi-convex sharpening Notes: Special limited edition - As the cutting edge is high-carbon steel, it is recommended to apply a thin layer of oil to preserve the blade in perfect condition. Like the ancient swords of the Japanese Samurai.
The laminated steel—imported into Italy by Collini Steel directly from Takefu Steel in Japan—follows the ancient Japanese tradition of crafting legendary Samurai swords. As early as the 1100s, Japanese blacksmiths combined different materials to create Katana swords with incredible cutting power, strength, and flexibility, unmatched at the time. This revolutionary forging technique has allowed Samurai swords to survive to this day as some of the most fascinating objects ever created.
By applying this tradition to modern metallurgy, we now have technologically advanced steels that have been tested and widely used in knife-making by renowned brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, and more.
San Mai Steel Features: This consists of different types of metals fused together to create a composite steel that enhances and intensifies the individual strengths of each material:
- Longer-lasting cutting edge: High-performance, high-carbon core steels (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered steels (SPG2) provide exceptional hardness and cutting performance after heat treatment.
- Increased toughness: Inspired by Japanese sword-making, the multi-layered steel is highly resistant to breakage due to the toughness of the core steel and the flexibility of the outer stainless steel layers.
- Improved corrosion resistance: The outer stainless steel layers provide high corrosion resistance. The galvanic combination of Takefu Steel’s materials further enhances resistance along the edge.
- Ease of reworking after heat treatment: Unlike standard steels, the outer layers retain some softness even after hardening, allowing for easier processing, drilling, and welding.
- Enhanced aesthetics: Multi-layered or Damascus-patterned knives are visually striking, elegant, and highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

EASTWOOD TIGER is a knife that I designed with the intention of making it as indestructible as a tank. I tried to give the knife an old school shape while maintaining its tactical function. Fox - ATCF Original Gangster by Terzuola - MagnaCut & Micarta Black - FX-ATC-OG1 LMB - knife
I designed the ATCF in 1986-87 inspired by my experience with military and security personnel in Central America and the United States.
The ATCF was the first tactical knife to be fully assembled with screws instead of pins and rivets.
I invented the thumb disk to facilitate opening with both hands. This became a widely copied feature of the ATCF and is used on many other knives by manufacturers around the world. The ATCF was the first pocket knife to use a checkering on the top which, along with the guard, provides protection and a firm grip.
The ATCF is one of the most copied knife shapes in the knife world, and as I often like to proudly say, "The ATCF is the shape...that shaped the whole industry!"

Fox - Bushman Knife - V-TOKU2 SanMai steel - Special Edition - CO-609OD - knife
Japanese steel blends with Italian excellence
For this 2021 collaboration, between the Collini Cutlery of Busto Arsizio and the Fox of Maniago, we have decided to propose the 609OD Bushman model, an excellent bushcraft knife produced by Fox of Maniago, using Japanese V-Toku2 steel in Sanmai. produced by Japanese Takefu Steel instead of the D2 used in the production model.
Specifically, we used V-Toku2 carbonaceous at 62 / 63HRC for the central plate and SUS410 stainless steel for the two external plates, in order to guarantee a very high cutting capacity, penetration and sealing of the wire together with an ease of re-sharpening. and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of external steel and by the laminated structure.
Technical features
Intended use: bushcraft - outdoor - collection
Type of production: Industrial
Production Lama: Italy
Blade: fulltang, in Japanese laminated steel (San Mai) with V-Toku2 (carbonaceous) cutting edge at 62 / 63HRC and external SUS410 (stainless steel) scales

As in the ancient Japanese Samurai swords. The rolled steel - imported into Italy by Collini Steel directly from the Japanese Takefu Steel - is based on the ancient Japanese tradition in the creation of the famous Samurai swords. In fact, as early as 1100 the expert Japanese blacksmiths combined different materials together to give the Katana swords incredible cutting capabilities combined with a resistance and flexibility previously unknown. It is thanks to this revolutionary construction technique that Samurai swords have been preserved to this day, becoming one of the most fascinating objects made by man. Following this tradition applied to modern metallurgy, today we are able to have technologically advanced steels already tested and used in cutlery also by famous brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, etc.
Characteristics of San Mai steel: These are different types of metals bonded together to create a composite that encloses and intensifies the strengths of the metals individually taken:
- Longer life of the cutting edge
thanks to the use of very high quality steels with high carbon content (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the heart of the sheet (Core Steel), the blade, once hardened, achieves decidedly hardness and cutting performance higher than those achieved with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
built with the principle of Japanese swords, multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the side facing (Stainless Steel).- Better corrosion resistance
the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, at the galvanic level, a structure that improves the corrosion resistance even on the wire.- Easy processing even after heat treatment
although steel normally becomes harder after hardening, the lateral steel used in multilayer processing does not lose its softness and allows easy processing, drilling or welding even after heat treatment. For an optimal performance of the blade, cryogenic treatment is recommended.- Improvement of the aesthetic result
The knives made with multi-state steel or damascus pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world. For more information: collinisteel

Fox - Baby Core by Vox - Blue - SanMai SPG2 Special Edition - CO-608BL - knife
With this exclusive edition of Coltelleria Collini in collaboration with Fox we have chosen to combine the pocket knife Baby Core by Vox with a Japanese powder steel (sintered) and rolled steel (SanMai) by Takefu Steel.
For this project we have chosen to use the Super Gold2 (SPG2) steel at 62/63HRC for the cutting edge of the blade in order to ensure exceptional cutting performance and durability of the sharpening, while ensuring a remarkable resilience and resistance to oxidation given by the lamination process of the blade.
Intended Use: Sporting / Collection

Notes: Design by Jesper Voxnaes - Opening movement on ball bearings - Carson Flipper opening system - Exclusive version by Coltelleria Collini, Sprint Run, with Japanese Takefu Steel SPG2 Rolled Stainless Steel. The rolled steel - imported in Italy by Collini Steel directly from the Japanese Takefu Steel - is based on the ancient Japanese tradition in the creation of the famous Samurai swords. As early as 1100, expert Japanese blacksmiths combined different materials to give Katana swords incredible cutting capabilities combined with previously unknown strength and flexibility. It is thanks to this revolutionary construction technique that the Samurai swords have been preserved until our days becoming one of the most fascinating objects made by man. Following this tradition applied to modern metallurgy, we are now able to have technologically advanced steels already tested and used in cutlery by famous brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, etc.
- Longer cutting edge life
thanks to the use of high quality steels with high carbon content (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the core steel, the blade, once hardened, reaches hardness and cutting performances definitely higher than those reached with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
Built on the principle of Japanese swords, the multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the lateral coating (Stainless Steel).- Improved corrosion resistance
The steel used for the outer layers (Stainless Steel) gives the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, at a galvanic level, a structure that improves corrosion resistance even on the edge.- Easy machining even after heat treatment
Although steel normally becomes harder after hardening, the lateral steel used in multilayer machining does not lose its softness and allows easy machining, drilling or welding even after heat treatment. For optimum blade performance, cryogenic treatment is recommended.- Improved aesthetic performance
Knives made of multi-state steel or damask pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world.FX-CO608-BL -
