Japanese steel meets Italian excellence

For this 2020 collaboration, exclusively for Coltelleria Collini, we decided to offer a series of best sellers produced by Extrema Ratio. These knives are made using the renowned San Mai steel produced by Japan’s Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used carbon-rich V-Toku2 at 62/63HRC for the central core and stainless SUS410 for the outer layers, resulting in superior cutting performance, penetration, edge retention, ease of sharpening, and at the same time excellent corrosion resistance and increased resilience due to the laminated structure.

Model Col Moschin Compact: this First Production Run was limited to 15 numbered units, from 1 to 15.

The lethal efficiency of the COL MOSCHIN knife, now in compact version. Comes with a rigid belt sheath and BELT-CLIP. The sheath can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or at a 45° angle.

Extrema Ratio S-THIL Black Warfare, a special version of the S-THIL model, is a backup knife with a monolithic structure machined from a single piece of 5 mm thick BOHLER N690 steel, developed in collaboration with the designer Thilo Arnd Schiller. The spear point type blade is hardened to 58 HRC in order to obtain the best balance between edge retention and strength, has a false edge in the upper part which enhances the characteristics of penetration and tip work, and is equipped with a Full length furrow flowing elegantly from blade to grip.

The blade is milled integrally with the knife to enhance its compactness and lightness, maintaining a minimum thickness even with a profile that recalls the classic Extrema Ratio handle. This profile forms two small guards and a comfortable thumb rest in order to prevent the hand from slipping towards the blade. On the end there is a skull crusher with a diamond-shaped tip and a slot that allows you to attach a wrist strap to the knife or to equip the handle with paracord winding.

The special Black Warfare version uses the innovative and original Geotech Camo pattern, created by laser engraving. The molded nylon sheath has been designed to be extremely flat and with very small lateral dimensions, in order to make it as compact as possible. The design of the knife makes it ambidextrous, allowing it to be inserted into the sheath with the cutting edge of the blade to the right or left. The double retention system integral with the sheath is made up of four pressure elements that work only two at a time, depending on right/left use, while in the nylon textile part there is a button that allows you to secure the knife to the sheath . The end of the sheath has a hole that allows you to expel liquids or residues inside. The possibility of applying belt clips, ulticlips, malice clips makes it extremely versatile. Knives made with the famous San Mai steel produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel. Specifically, for the central sheet we used the carbonaceous V-Toku2 at 62 / 63HRC and the stainless SUS410 for the two external sheets, in order to guarantee a very high cutting, penetration and sealing capacity of the wire together with an ease of regrinding and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of foreign steel and the laminated structure.

SHRAPNEL OG model: for this First Production Run, a circulation of 10 pieces numbered from 1 to 10 was produced.

SHRAPNEL OG is a truly multi-purpose "back-up", with strong combat attitudes. The leaf blade is characterized by a wide flat winding, with a narrow sharpening angle which makes it particularly sharp. For over half a century, Gil Hibben has been creating a very diverse collection of designs, from the Rambo III Bowie, to intricately detailed fantasy works of art, to game hunting knives and functional designs used by our servicemen. 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of Gil Hibben's career and he continues to stand at the forefront of the custom knife design trade. Gil was recently elected president of the Knifemakers Guild and was awarded with the prestigious Red Watson Memorial Friendship Award.

The Immortal, the seventeenth edition in the Hibben Annual Fantasy Knife Series, ushers in a new era of the Hibben fantasy knife with its chrome plated solid metal handle parts and imitation amber grip accented with stainless steel twisted wire wrap. The Immortal Autographed Edition is strictly limited to 3000 individually serialized pieces and is presented with an imitation leather sheath personally autographed by the knife's creator, Gil Hibben.

For this new exclusive collaboration with Extrema Ratio we decided to propose a best seller in the world of cutlery, the Shrapnel model. It's a satin blade version but the most important thing is that has been used, for the first time in Italy, the famous Japanese Steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used the CoS (Cobalt Special, considered mechanically superior by 25% compared to the already appreciated VG10) for the central plate and the 420J2 (55 HRC) for the two side plates, in order to have a high cutting capacity, but at the the same time a remarkable resilience and resistance to oxidation.

A First Production Run of 30 pieces has been made.

SHRAPNEL OG is a truly versatile “back up” knife with marked combat qualities. Its leaf-shaped blade is flat ground at a characteristically low angle to a wide, extraordinarily sharp edge. The included hard sheath can be worn vertically, horizontally or obliquely (at a 45° angle). Tthe SHRAPNEL OG hilt design does not include a guard.

Laminated patterns or Damascus patterns appear from basis materials which are bonded with different kinds of metals.

United Kempo II UC1168
This model stands out for its unique features, suitable for Kenpo Karate enthusiasts. The UC1168 Kempo II knife, introduced in 1998 and later replaced by the Alaskan knife in 2003, features a Kenpo Karate emblem on the handle. The design includes a grip-enhancing angled guard, stylized after Kenpo's "Chinese Fist" grip for added stability and control. This knife measures approximately 31cm in total with an 18cm blade, made from stainless steel.

Like the UC1168, it is sold with its original box but without the sheath.

The symbolic meaning of love knife, so you call the knife produced specifically to be exchanged between engaged, is twofold: - given to man symbolizes the incitement to the courage, virility, to prevail in the social context - given the woman takes the significance of accepting the commitment to defend their honor and the faith given to the blood. For both finally assume the archaic ritual significance to sanction the signing of a contract not yet institutionalized.

The handle is decorated with classic "dice eyes" that are meant to turn the knife in a valuable amulet against the evil eye. After marriage these knives were usually hung on the wall above the bed.
