The Smilodon, commonly known as the saber-toothed tiger, was an extinct large feline that lived during the Pleistocene, between 2.5 million and 10,000 years ago. It was a member of the felid family and was distinguished by its unique features, particularly its huge saber-shaped upper canines.

The Smilodon was larger than present-day tigers, with a length of about 1.6-1.8 meters and a height at withers of about 1 meter. Its weight could range from 200 to 400 kilograms. The Smilodon's most distinctive feature were its upper canines, which could reach a length of more than 20 centimeters. These canines were extremely sharp and adapted for grasping and stinging prey. Smilodon is believed to have been a specialized predator, hunting large mammals such as Pleistocene herbivores.
