The name of this knife, typical of Scarperia tradition, probably derives from the blade machining, which features three planes on each side.

During the 19th century, three different models were produced in Scarperia as part of the "stile knives" group, differing in the workmanship of the blade faces. As the first two models gradually disappeared, only one remained in production during the 20th century. Despite the aggressive blade shape, it was not considered a prohibited knife: the laws of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany first, and later those of the Kingdom of Italy, allowed its use.

The Bark River Bushcrafter II is designed to be the ultimate bushcraft knife. The Bark River Aurora II is designed as the ultimate bushcraft knife, a result of extensive testing conducted by experts in North America and Europe. The first certain information on this knife dates back to 1848. A specimen, dated 1871, is kept in the State Archives of Florence, attached to the documents of a trial against a convicted person. The mark of a Scarperia manufacturer, Gustavo Buffi, is clearly visible on it, the shape of the blade is that with an angled back, also maintained in the twentieth century and present in the catalogs of various firms in Scarperia. The production of Scarborough has not devoted much attention to penknives.
It was, however, made a template from the desk, which in the past was used to make the tip of the quill pens and pencils.
This sharpener Scarperia was always devoid of spring and could have from one to two blades; unmistakable the shape of the handle, in a single piece of horn.
In the catalogs of the early years of the twentieth century these items were listed as "sharpeners use Palmerini" which was actually the name of a renowned manufacturer of the nineteenth century.
Proposed model is at the tip of the horn two blades.

This slender-shaped knife with a curved handle derives from ancient models, used by the shepherds of Abruzzo.
Its adoption in the repertoire of knives manufactured in Scarperia (where the particular fold of the handle earned it the name of "hunchback") dates back to the end of the nineteenth century and took place without obvious changes compared to the original type, equipped with a simple spring and one piece bovine horn handle.

This knife owes its name to the blunt tip which is absolutely missing as if the blade had been cut off.
Pointless knives became much more widespread with the "Giolitti law" of 1908 which fixed the length of the blade of pointed knives at only four centimeters.
For mozzette, the limit rose to ten centimeters, offering the possibility of safely carrying a knife of sufficient size in your pocket without risking the rigors of the law.

Conaz Consigli Scarperia - Vernante Horn horn ox - 20 cm - 50073 - knife

Traditional knife produced by master cutlers in Scarperia, place where, since 1300, the craftsmanship of Italian knives continues.
Typical Piedmont knife, in use since the early 19th century also in Liguria. Originally from the village of Vernante (Cuneo).

The 420 stainless steel blade can be scimitar or straight.
On the upper part of the heel there is always the characteristic appendix with the head of a nail which, by housing a socket in the handle, allows the blade to be held steady with the knifted thumb.
Used for all agricultural and domestic work and, for the particular sharpening, also for carving wood.
The cattlemen also used it as a surgical tool to carve the belly of cattle grazing, when too much wet grass was ingested causing excessive accumulation of gas.

In use for certain news until the first half of the 19th century in the Maremma area of Tuscany and Lazio. Through finds from the criminological museum in Rome, he was seen among those knives delivered by the rioters of the criminal baths of Civitavecchia to Cardinal Franco Pentini, in 1848, sent to quell a revolt.
