Scimitar "or" French "blade already present in the early twentieth century, production continued until the mid-1950s. The great success of this model, which was born in Scarperia has had national diffusion, is due to the fact that although it is very light it is elegant, robust and has great cutting capacity, due to the guessed shape of the blade. A native of Calabria, this knife by the blade and pointed straight but has a handle in the most typical style of Scarborough, has a seal consists of two rings round, similar to Fiorentino, although smaller. It is supposed to have been in the past a major reworking of the knives typical Calabrian by the craftsmen of Scarperia that as often happened then have been extensively used to their own tradition. The name of this knife comes from the shape of the blade, reminiscent of the razor.

The name clearly indicates the area of origin, but this knife became part of Scarperia's production perhaps as early as the nineteenth century, taking over from an older model called "scimitar" due to the hollow shape of the back of the blade towards the tip.
The handle has no metal seals, apart from the tiny raperelle on which the three pins are pressed, is thinned at the end, making it particularly light, and is made of solid horn.

The name of this knife, typical of Scarperia tradition, probably derives from the blade machining, which features three planes on each side.

During the 19th century, three different models were produced in Scarperia as part of the "stile knives" group, differing in the workmanship of the blade faces. As the first two models gradually disappeared, only one remained in production during the 20th century. Despite the aggressive blade shape, it was not considered a prohibited knife: the laws of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany first, and later those of the Kingdom of Italy, allowed its use.

The "Roman" testifies to the widespread mentality in the Papal States for which the knife was considered as a faithful friend to be constantly worn "in his pocket" and to be unleashed at the first hint of a fight or for an immediate response.

Many elements constituting the "Roman" bear witness to the offensive use that distinguished this knife: the sharp blade, the decorations of the lattice handle or fish bone that served to improve the grip, the locking system with fixed spring that prevented the knife could close up accidentally and that at the time of the opening emitted a dry noise that exalted the aggressive expression.

Randall Knives - Model 1-7 - Micarta Finger Grooves - Private

The Randall Model 1 Fighter was one of the first models produced in Randall's Orlando workshop. A Model 1, personally made by Bo Randall, served as the prototype for the Springfield Randall, produced by the Northampton Cutlery Company near Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1943 and 1944 for issue to American military personnel.

Since World War II, Randall knives have been among the world's best-known handmade knives and are still produced in the family-run Orlando workshop, much in the same way Bo made his knives in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The company has been managed by Bo's son Gary since 1970, currently joined by his sons Jason and Michael.

The SHIN is one of the largest folders in the Rockstead catalog and showcases all the typical and characteristic elements of the brand: aluminum handle with a pearl-radiant design, hardened anodization at 400 Vickers, and an insert of high-quality stingray leather (Samekawa).

This is a durable knife with strong cutting capabilities that maintains its edge for a long time. Even when used for rigorous cuts, the blade glides securely thanks to its particular sharpening.

The blade indeed has a HONZUKURI sharpening, convex on both sides, following the tradition of Japanese swords; this makes it both very sharp and sturdy, allowing it to cleanly cut a sheet of paper even after 1000 cuts through a very abrasive and resistant hemp rope.

This shape is both sharp and strong, and can still slice cleanly through a sheet of paper even after the punishment of chopping and cutting through dried bamboo. Using this special blade shape is an excellent way of allowing an edge to be thick without sacrificing any of its sharpness. This knife is of preeminent sharpness. The first certain information on this knife dates back to 1848. A specimen, dated 1871, is kept in the State Archives of Florence, attached to the documents of a trial against a convicted person. The mark of a Scarperia manufacturer, Gustavo Buffi, is clearly visible on it, the shape of the blade is that with an angled back, also maintained in the twentieth century and present in the catalogs of various firms in Scarperia. The production of Scarborough has not devoted much attention to penknives.
It was, however, made a template from the desk, which in the past was used to make the tip of the quill pens and pencils.
This sharpener Scarperia was always devoid of spring and could have from one to two blades; unmistakable the shape of the handle, in a single piece of horn.
In the catalogs of the early years of the twentieth century these items were listed as "sharpeners use Palmerini" which was actually the name of a renowned manufacturer of the nineteenth century.
Proposed model is at the tip of the horn two blades.

This Pattada constitutes the now historical interpretation of the Sardinian knife made by Consiglio. The handle formed by two halves fixed with a row of rivets and the absence of a real spring are typical of the original model, but the line, the shape of the surfaces, the use of ram's horn are affected by the Scarperian tradition. Consigli has long linked its business to supplies for Sardinia, so much so that their Pattada have now become "Sardinian by adoption".
