Opinel N°10 Shiori - The meeting of two cultures, two masteries.
Born from the collaboration between Opinel, the historic French cutlery house, and Nigara Hamono, a renowned Japanese forge specializing in the Tsugaru Uchihamono tradition, the N°10 Shiori is an exceptional knife that blends aesthetics, craftsmanship and functionality. It was designed by Atsuko Totsuka-Blanchet, founder of Shiori, who selects Japanese handcrafted objects designed to integrate with French daily life.The blade is forged from multilayer VG7 stainless steel, subjected to a handcrafted hammering process called Tsuchime, which gives it an irregular surface: in addition to its aesthetic appeal, this technique prevents wet food from adhering to the blade, ensuring a precise and durable cut. With a hardness of 63 HRC, it offers superior cutting performance.
The handle made of flamed maple, a French wood with a bright, undulating texture, is sanded for a silky feel. The heel features a matte black finish that complements the elegance of the design. The Virobloc safety system, made of stainless steel treated with a black finish, improves corrosion resistance but is sensitive to scratches: gentle cleaning is recommended, avoiding abrasive sponges.
