The most distinctive—and patented—feature of the Buckmaster Buck 184 is the presence of two removable, screw-mounted harpoons, or hooks. Their primary function is to provide an anchor point: the knife can, in fact, be used as a sort of throwing hook by attaching a rope to the ring on the pommel. The manufacturer claimed the grappling hooks had a holding capacity of up to 600 pounds.

In the case of the Navy SEALs, the requirement was for a knife that could also be used underwater and, if necessary, allow for the anchoring of equipment or vehicles to a submerged anchor point. The Zero Tolerance 0100 is one of the first knives produced by Zero Tolerance, the premium division of Kai USA, which was launched in 2006 to develop professional tools for military personnel, law enforcement, and first responders. Annually Benchmade releases a limited edition knife model under its Gold Class line. These Benchmade Gold Class knives are made from the finest materials and feature the highest level of workmanship. Each Benchmade Gold Class knife series is limited and numbered.

This particular Gold model, the 750-101, has Damasteel blade with Infinity pattern, bronze anodized monolock titanium handle with black carbon fiber inserts contoured and handcrafted, the titanium back spacer is also bronze anodized. All hardware components are finished with DLC (including the pocket clip). This Gold Class series is limited to 200 pieces.
