Mcusta MC-23 Series – The fusion of Japanese craftsmanship and American design

The MC-23 series marks the first collaboration between the Japanese brand Mcusta and renowned American knife maker Mike Irie, celebrated since 1991 for his compact, elegant, and highly functional hunting knives. This partnership has given rise to a line that reinterprets the classic style of the “Sport 100,” “200,” and “300” collections, preserving their original spirit while enriching them with Japanese precision craftsmanship.

Crafted in the city of Seki, the heart of Japanese knife-making tradition, the MC-23 is a fixed-blade knife that combines refined aesthetics with practicality. The blade, made of laminated VG-10 and Damascus steel with a matte gray finish and hammered texture (tsuchime), offers durability, high performance, and a distinctive visual impact. The spine features fine jimping to ensure greater control during use.

The contoured Desert Ironwood handle, embellished with elegant grooves, ensures comfort, balance, and solidity, reflecting Mcusta’s sophisticated style. A brown leather sheath completes the set, perfect for carrying and protection.

Known for their rugged longevity in countless practical applications, Ontario's famous Old Hickory knives have been a go-to for cooking and outdoor enthusiasts for over 95 years. This model, thanks to its small size and ease of use, is ideal for processing fish and small game animals. It features an 8.5cm stainless steel blade with a satin finish. As with all Old Hickory models, this knife also features a wooden handle with brass rivets. Both the fillet knife and the leather sheath are made in the USA.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE: it is recommended to wash it under running water and immediately dry it manually with a clean cotton cloth or absorbent paper.

In collaboration with Wander Tactical we have decided to offer their heavy duty, the Smilodon model, in an exclusive satin blade version that uses the famous Japanese San Mai steel produced by Takefu Steel.

This time, in the rich catalog of products offered by them, we chose a particular steel with a carbon cutting edge, but with external stainless steel cheeks. Specifically, for the central sheet we used the carbonaceous V-Toku2 at 62 / 63HRC and the SUS410 for external lamination in order to guarantee a very high cutting, penetration and sealing capacity of the wire together with an ease of regrinding and maintenance; at the same time the blade has a remarkable corrosion resistance and an important increase in resilience given by the laminated structure.
