Japanese steel meets Italian excellence

For this 2020 collaboration, exclusively for Coltelleria Collini, we decided to offer a series of best sellers produced by Extrema Ratio. These knives are made using the renowned San Mai steel produced by Japan’s Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used carbon-rich V-Toku2 at 62/63HRC for the central core and stainless SUS410 for the outer layers, resulting in superior cutting performance, penetration, edge retention, ease of sharpening, and at the same time excellent corrosion resistance and increased resilience due to the laminated structure.

Model Col Moschin Compact: this First Production Run was limited to 15 numbered units, from 1 to 15.

The lethal efficiency of the COL MOSCHIN knife, now in compact version. Comes with a rigid belt sheath and BELT-CLIP. The sheath can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or at a 45° angle.

San Mai Steel Features: A combination of different metals bonded together to create a composite with amplified properties:

Specifically, we used V-Toku2 carbonaceous at 62 / 63HRC for the central plate and SUS410 stainless steel for the two external plates, in order to guarantee a very high cutting capacity, penetration and sealing of the wire together with an easy regrinding. and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of external steel and by the laminated structure.
Selvan model: for this First Production Run a run of 5 pieces numbered from 1 to 5 was created.

The Selvans was born from the collaboration between Extrema Ratio and FISSS (Italian Federation of Sports and Experimental Survival). The project consists of modifying the Ontos, a military survival knife, to accentuate and maximize the performance of the knife as a hiking tool.

The handle has been lengthened and the blade weighted to favor the effectiveness of the cutting strokes and to make more use of the inertia of the stroke.

Knives made with the famous San Mai steel produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel. Specifically, for the central sheet we used the carbonaceous V-Toku2 at 62 / 63HRC and the stainless SUS410 for the two external sheets, in order to guarantee a very high cutting, penetration and sealing capacity of the wire together with an ease of regrinding and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of foreign steel and the laminated structure.

FULCRUM C model: for this First Production Run, a circulation of 10 pieces numbered from 1 to 10 was produced.

FULCRUM C is the compact version of FULCRUM, it maintains all the characteristics of solidity and robustness and, thanks to the reduced dimensions of the blade (only 110 mm) and the handle, it is easily portable and concealable. The rigid sheath can be positioned horizontally, vertically or in a 45 ° inclined position. In collaboration with Wander Tactical we decided to propose one of their most iconic knives, the Tryceratops model, in an exclusive satin-blade version that uses the famous Japanese Steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. For this new exclusive collaboration with Extrema Ratio we decided to propose a best seller in the world of cutlery, the Shrapnel model. It's a satin blade version but the most important thing is that has been used, for the first time in Italy, the famous Japanese Steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used the CoS (Cobalt Special, considered mechanically superior by 25% compared to the already appreciated VG10) for the central plate and the 420J2 (55 HRC) for the two side plates, in order to have a high cutting capacity, but at the the same time a remarkable resilience and resistance to oxidation.

A First Production Run of 30 pieces has been made.

SHRAPNEL OG is a truly versatile “back up” knife with marked combat qualities. Its leaf-shaped blade is flat ground at a characteristically low angle to a wide, extraordinarily sharp edge. The included hard sheath can be worn vertically, horizontally or obliquely (at a 45° angle). Tthe SHRAPNEL OG hilt design does not include a guard.

Easy to work on
Cladded structure is easy to apply on such works as forging, grinding, sharpening or polishing to make a sharp blade.

Though the steel gets harder after heat treatment, the soft steel never loses its softness, enabling the material to be drilled or welded.

Design improvement
Laminated patterns or Damascus patterns appear from basis materials which are bonded with different kinds of metals.

Commissioned and officially adopted in 2002 by the famous 9th Regiment. Raiders "Col Moschin", this model expresses the quintessence of pure combat knife.

Inspired by daggers with asymmetric blade and straight handle but oriented Arditi, from which the Regiment traces its vestiges, it was reworked in a modern way.
The center of gravity is strong backlog, particularly the tip piercing. And 'light, handy and intuitive. Each new intruder receives one, and each new intruder is trained to use it.

All knives of this series have straight handles KRATON from ergonomic design whose shape and size favors besides a solid grip the rapid change of straight handle (Sabre Grip) to upside (Reverse Grip). An Allen screw stainless steel allows the campaign from disassembly for maintenance and lubrication of the through shank increasing the operational life of the knife.
