The increased resilience makes these models more tolerant to the abuse typical of a field environment.

Technical insight into nitrogen-added steels
Nitrogen steels, or nitrogen-added steels, are alloys in which nitrogen is used as an alloying element instead of, or in addition to, carbon. Although nitrogen is less effective than carbon in hardening the martensitic matrix, it has the advantage of forming stable compounds with chromium to a much lesser extent. This allows a greater amount of chromium to be kept in solid solution, improving corrosion resistance. In addition, nitrogen contributes to the hardness and stability of the structure, giving these steels a good balance between hardness, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Compared to traditional martensitic steels, nitrogen steels can therefore offer a better combination of mechanical properties and resistance to chemicals, while maintaining good workability and sharpenability characteristics.

Extrema Ratio S-THIL STONE WASHED is a tactical backup knife with monolithic construction machined from a single piece of 5 mm thick BOHLER N690 steel, developed in collaboration with Thilo designer Arnd Schiller.

The blade, a spear point type, is hardened to 58 HRC in order to achieve the best balance of edge retention and strength, features a false counterbore at the top that enhances penetration and point work characteristics, and has a full-length groove (fuller) that flows elegantly from the blade to the handle. The blade is milled integrally to the knife to enhance its compactness and lightness, maintaining a minimal thickness while still having a profile reminiscent of the classic Extrema Ratio handle.

That profile goes to form two small guards and a comfortable thumb rest to prevent the hand from slipping towards the blade. On the end are a skull crusher with a diamond-shaped tip and a slot that allows a wrist strap to be attached to the knife or the handle to be fitted with paracord coiling.

The molded nylon sheath is designed to be extremely flat with very small side dimensions to make it as compact as possible. The design of the knife makes it ambidextrous, allowing it to be inserted into the sheath with the blade cutting edge to the right or left. The double retention system integral to the sheath consists of four pressure elements that work only two at a time, depending on right/left-handed use, while the nylon textile part has a button that allows the knife to be secured to the sheath.

The end of the sheath has a hole to expel liquids or debris inside. The ability to attach belt clip, ulticlip, malice clip makes it extremely versatile. You can also attach the sheath to the M.O.L.L.E. system by braiding the paracord.

The Fulcrum C Black is the compact version of the famous Fulcrum knife, designed by Extrema Ratio to offer maximum reliability in a smaller, easily transportable format. Designed for tactical and emergency use, this fixed-blade knife stands out for its strength, ergonomics and versatility.

The blade measures 110 mm and features a tanto profile, with flat sharpening and 40 mm partial teeth, ideal for effectively cutting tough materials such as ropes and fabrics. Made of Böhler N690 steel hardened to 58 HRC, it is protected by a black burnished MIL-C-13924 finish, which provides corrosion resistance and reduces glare.

The handle is made of Forprene, a material resistant to weathering, impact and mechanical stress, offering a secure grip even in extreme conditions. The ergonomic and compact handle makes the Fulcrum C particularly suitable for use in confined spaces or as a backup tool.

The knife features a rigid ABS sheath, which can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or at a 45-degree angle, offering great flexibility in carrying and quick draw.
