SHIN in Japanese means ‘trust’.

The SHIN is one of the largest folders in the Rockstead catalog and showcases all the typical and characteristic elements of the brand: aluminum handle with a pearl-radiant design, hardened anodization at 400 Vickers, and an insert of high-quality stingray leather (Samekawa).

This is a durable knife with strong cutting capabilities that maintains its edge for a long time. Even when used for rigorous cuts, the blade glides securely thanks to its particular sharpening.

The blade indeed has a HONZUKURI sharpening, convex on both sides, following the tradition of Japanese swords; this makes it both very sharp and sturdy, allowing it to cleanly cut a sheet of paper even after 1000 cuts through a very abrasive and resistant hemp rope.

Citadel Knives and Swords is a sword and knife manufacturer based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Despite the country's reputation as an exotic and remote location, the company is easily accessible, located close to the city's international airport. Founded by Dominique Eluere in the 1990s, Citadel has combined the expertise of French and local craftsmen to produce blades that rival the best in the world. Eluere began by training Cambodian blacksmiths to make French table knives, later evolving into the production of Japanese swords.

The quality of Citadel swords is world renowned, thanks to the use of traditional Japanese techniques and a meticulous manufacturing process. Each katana is heat treated, creating a blade with varying hardness along the edge and spine, a hallmark of true katanas. The hilt is fully encased in high-quality stingray leather, a rarity compared to common panels.

Attention to detail extends to every element, with every component custom-made for each blade. This includes the tsuba (sword guard) and habaki (blade collar), both of which are hand-crafted and fitted, ensuring perfect fit and functionality.

In addition to katanas, Citadel also produces European swords and knives, maintaining the same philosophy of quality and functionality. Production is artisanal, with particular attention to polishing and finishing, often done by hand with sandpaper and whetstones.

The HIGO-MH-DLC folder features a 3.5-inch YXR7 blade with DLC coating and Micarta handle. The incredible mirror finish is achieved by heat treating the blade and gradually grinding by hand with wet and dry sandpaper of 400, 600, 800, 1,200 and 2,000. Bavarian dress knife or Bavarian picnic knife are the common English terms for the special type of fixed blade knife called Trachtenmesser in Germany. These knives are found in the right side pocket of a traditional Bavarian leather pant and only part of the handle is visible as you pass that pocket.

Bavarian dress knives are characterized by the particular shape of the blade and in most cases by a decorated ring. This ferrule constitutes the passage between the blade and the handle of the deer horn or other hunting trophies that is fixed with the tang. A dark brown leather sheath is slid over the blade for protection purposes.

These handmade knives are distinguished by their original but functional line, which is well matched to the traditional manufacturing techniques and the materials used.
The blades are in fact carbon-hardened to a hardness of around 40 HRC after which, after being hammered by hand, the back and sides are covered with clay and the wire tempered at 60 HRC to have excellent cutting capacity, penetration and flexibility. The knife is then polished and sharpened by hand on stone and finished in every single detail.

This knife blade is convex on both sides in the tradition of the highly praised Japanese sword. This shape is both sharp and strong, and can still slice cleanly through a sheet of paper even after the punishment of chopping and cutting through dried bamboo. Using this special blade shape is an excellent way of allowing an edge to be thick without sacrificing any of its sharpness. This knife is of preeminent sharpness. This is a durable knife with strong cutting capabilities that will last for a long time. Even when used for rigorous cutting, the blade will not bite or catch thanks to its convex shape. Other knives will often bite or catch, and may acquire nicks if pulled out suddenly.
