ExtremaRatio - Selvan Heavy Utility Survival Knife in San Mai V-TOKU2 - Limited Edition - knife
Japanese steel blends with Italian excellence
For this 2020 collaboration, exclusive of Collini Cutlery, we have decided to propose a series of best sellers produced by Extrema Ratio. Knives made with the famous San Mai steel produced by Japanese Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used V-Toku2 carbonaceous at 62 / 63HRC for the central plate and SUS410 stainless steel for the two external plates, in order to guarantee a very high cutting capacity, penetration and sealing of the wire together with an easy regrinding. and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of external steel and by the laminated structure.
Selvan model: for this First Production Run a run of 5 pieces numbered from 1 to 5 was created. The Selvans was born from the collaboration between Extrema Ratio and FISSS (Italian Federation of Sports and Experimental Survival). The project consists of modifying the Ontos, a military survival knife, to accentuate and maximize the performance of the knife as a hiking tool.
The handle has been lengthened and the blade weighted to favor the effectiveness of the cutting strokes and to make more use of the inertia of the stroke.
Intended use: Heavy Utility
Type of production: Industrial
Production Lama: Italy
Blade: integral, laminated Japanese steel (San Mai) with V-Toku2 (carbonaceous) cutting edge at 62 / 63HRC and SUS410 (stainless steel) external scales
Blade treatment: Testudo
Handle: Forprene
Blade length: 15.5mm.
Blade thickness: 6.3mm.
Total length: 310mm.
Thick when closed: -
Balancing: advanced
Weight: 424g.
Sheath: nylon, MOLLE compatible
Packaging: Cardboard box with Extrema Ratio logos
Notes: Numbered edition - cardboard box with Extremaratio logos and certificate - being the cutting edge in carbon steel it is advisable, in order to keep the blade in perfect condition, to protect the edge with a light surface of oil.As in the ancient Japanese Samurai swords.
The rolled steel - imported into Italy by Collini Steel directly from the Japanese Takefu Steel - is based on the ancient Japanese tradition in the creation of the famous Samurai swords. In fact, as early as 1100 the expert Japanese blacksmiths combined different materials together to give the Katana swords incredible cutting capabilities combined with a resistance and flexibility previously unknown. It is thanks to this revolutionary construction technique that Samurai swords have been preserved to this day, becoming one of the most fascinating objects made by man. Following this tradition applied to modern metallurgy, today we are able to have technologically advanced steels already tested and used in cutlery also by famous brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, etc.
Characteristics of San Mai steel: These are different types of metals bonded together to create a composite that encloses and intensifies the strengths of the metals individually taken:
- Longer tool life
thanks to the use of very high quality steels with high carbon content (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the heart of the sheet (Core Steel), the blade, once hardened, achieves decidedly hardness and cutting performance higher than those achieved with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
built on the principle of Japanese swords, multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the side facing (Stainless Steel).- Better corrosion resistance
the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, on a galvanic level, a structure that improves corrosion resistance even on the wire.- Easy processing even after heat treatment
although steel normally becomes harder after quenching, the lateral steel used in multilayer processing does not lose its softness and allows easy processing, drilling or welding even after heat treatment. For an optimal performance of the blade, cryogenic treatment is recommended.- Improvement of the aesthetic result
The knives made with multi-state steel or with a damask pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world. For more information: collinisteel

the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, on a galvanic level, a structure that improves corrosion resistance even on the wire.- Easy processing even after heat treatment
although the steel normally becomes harder after hardening, the side steel used in multilayer processing does not lose its softness and allows easy processing, drilling or welding even after heat treatment.

ExtremaRatio - Col Moschin Satin knife in San Mai V-TOKU2 - Limited Edition - knife
Japanese steel blends with Italian excellence
For this 2020 collaboration, exclusive of Collini Cutlery, we have decided to propose a series of best sellers produced by Extrema Ratio. Knives made with the famous San Mai steel produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used V-Toku2 carbonaceous at 62 / 63HRC for the central plate and SUS410 stainless steel for the two external plates, in order to guarantee a very high cutting capacity, penetration and sealing of the wire together with an ease of re-sharpening. and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of external steel and by the laminated structure.
Col Moschin model: for this First Production Run a run of 11 pieces was produced, numbered from 1 to 11.
Special purpose cutting knife, specially developed for the 9th Col Moschin Parachute Assault Regiment, elite unit of the Folgore brigade.
Use: tactical, sports, hiking, collection
Blade: integral, in laminated Japanese steel (San Mai) with V-Toku2 (carbonaceous) cutting edge at 62 / 63HRC and external SUS410 (stainless steel) scales
Handle: forprene
Blade length: 160mm.
Blade thickness: 6.5mm.
Total length: 290mm.
Balance: set back to 0.5cm. from the guard branch
Weight: 265g.

As in the ancient Japanese Samurai swords.Rolled steel - imported into Italy by Collini Steel directly from Japanese Takefu Steel - is based on the ancient Japanese tradition in the creation of the famous Samurai swords.

ExtremaRatio - Misericordia - 4th Alpine Paratroopers Regiment - tactical knife
The Extrema Ratio Misericordia was adopted by the 4th Alpine Paratroopers Regiment which helped develop and test the product. It is a tactical fixed blade knife, extremely light and compact, it can be used both as a main knife or as a backup blade.
The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel, heat-treated to a hardness of 58 HRc, it is 118 mm long, 4mm thick and has a flat edge.
The profile is of the spear point type, with a full length fuller which makes the blade even lighter and with a false counter-thread at ¾ length. The blade is available with the classic Extrema Ratio MIL-C-13924 black finish.
The handle in fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) features the classic Extrema Ratio recesses that make the grip safer and is fixed to the tang by means of a through screw.
On the rear end the handle flows connecting with a large ring, which allows the use of martial arts techniques and ensures a very solid grip to the hand, equipped with a "skull crusher" appendix in hard metal.
The overall weight of the knife is just 87g. Being a knife designed for professional use, much attention has been paid to ease of port, accessibility and extraction in case of need. The knife is secured to the sheath by a quick-release safety catch that can be easily reversed for use by left-handers.
The sheath is made of highly resistant Nylon, it is very versatile and two adjustable loops allow it to be fixed inside the loops of M.O.L.L.E.
The sheath is equipped with a conical invitation to facilitate the re-insertion of the knife while a simple pressure on the trigger safety allows it to be extracted quickly and instinctively.

ExtremaRatio - E.C.M. Cobra - ECM Einsatzkommando - Knife
The Extreme Ratio E.C.M. (Einsatzkommando Cobra Messer) is a fixed blade multipurpose knife, designed for operational uses for the famous Einsatzkommando "Cobra" special unit of the Austrian police, whose logo is laser engraved on the heel of the blade. The Extreme Ratio E.C.M. it combines the characteristics of a practical tool and those of a reliable weapon, in a compact configuration with a total weight of 240g.
The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel, hardened to 58 HRC and is 116 mm long, 5 mm thick and equipped with a flat edge. The profile of the blade is of the modified spear point type, with a false counter-thread ¾ in length on the back and a lower guard to protect the hand during use.
Both the guard and the knob have holes to facilitate the attachment of the knife to various tools or for the passage of laces. The blade has a Carbon-based DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) surface coating making it hyper-resistant to abrasion and chemical aggression.
Given the heavy use of the tool, for the handle, instead of the usual Forprene, the more performing high-strength G10 is used.
It is fixed to the FULL TANG profile by two through screws and maintains all the known ergonomic characteristics of the Extrema Ratio handles. Being a knife designed for professional use, great importance was given to ease of port, accessibility and rapid extraction.
The polymer sheath is versatile and can be carried on a service belt or mounted on M.O.L.L.E. of tactical vests, backpacks or other equipment.

Already in 1100 the expert Japanese blacksmiths in fact combined different materials to give the Katana swords incredible cutting capabilities combined with a resistance and flexibility previously unknown. It is thanks to this revolutionary construction technique that the swords from Samurai have been preserved to the present day becoming one of the most fascinating objects made by man. Following this tradition applied to modern metallurgy, we are now able to have technologically advanced steels already tested and used in cutlery also by famous brands such as Fallkniven, Cold Steel, Mcusta, Kai, Sog, Zwilling, Rockstead, etc.
Characteristics of San Mai steel: These are different types of metals bonded together to create a composite that encloses and intensifies the strengths of the metals taken individually:
- Longer tool life
thanks to the use of high quality steel with a high carbon content (VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the heart of the sheet (Core Steel), the blade once hardened, achieves hardness and cutting performance decidedly higher than those achieved with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
built with the principle of Japanese swords, multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the lateral coating (Stainless Steel).- Better corrosion resistance
the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion. The combination of the two or more materials used by Takefu Steel generates, at the galvanic level, a structure that improves the corrosion resistance also on the wire.- Easy processing even after heat treatment
although normally the steel becomes harder after hardening, the lateral steel used in multi-layer processing does not lose its softness and allows easy processing, drilling or welding even after heat treatment. For optimum performance of the blade, cryogenic treatment is recommended.- Improvement of the aesthetic result
The knives made with multistate steel or with a damask pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world. For more information: collinisteel

ExtremaRatio - Fulcrum C Satin knife in San Mai V-TOKU2 - Limited Edition - knife
Japanese steel merges with Italian excellence
For this 2019/2020 collaboration, exclusive to Collini Cutlery, we have decided to offer a series of best sellers produced by Extrema Ratio. Knives made with the famous San Mai steel produced by the Japanese Takefu Steel. Specifically, for the central sheet we used the carbonaceous V-Toku2 at 62 / 63HRC and the stainless SUS410 for the two external sheets, in order to guarantee a very high cutting, penetration and sealing capacity of the wire together with an ease of regrinding and maintenance but at the same time the blade has a remarkable resistance to corrosion and an important increase in resilience given by the type of foreign steel and the laminated structure.
FULCRUM C model: for this First Production Run, a circulation of 10 pieces numbered from 1 to 10 was produced.
FULCRUM C is the compact version of FULCRUM, it maintains all the characteristics of solidity and robustness and, thanks to the reduced dimensions of the blade (only 110 mm) and the handle, it is easily portable and concealable. The rigid sheath can be positioned horizontally, vertically or in a 45 ° inclined position. The only safety of the sheath is automatic with extraction and re-insertion by pressure, this detail makes it an intuitive and extremely fast tool, particularly suitable for emergency use and for personal defense.

- Longer tool life
thanks to the use of high quality steel with a high carbon content (V-Toku2, VG10, CoS, Shiro) or sintered (SPG2), in the heart of the sheet (Core Steel), the blade once hardened, reaches hardness and cutting performance significantly higher than that achieved with the use of traditional steels.- Greater resilience
built with the principle of Japanese swords, multilayer steel is difficult to break thanks to the toughness of the central steel (Core Steel) and the elasticity of the steel used for the lateral coating (Stainless Steel).- Better corrosion resistance
the steel used for the external layers (Stainless Steel) guarantees the blade a high resistance to corrosion.
The knives made with multistate steel or with damask pattern at the end of the processing are aesthetically elegant, refined and highly appreciated by collectors all over the world.ERCC-P-F-VT2 -
ExtremaRatio - Shrapnel OG Satin - San Mai V-TOKU2 Limited Edition - knife
SHRAPNEL OG model: for this First Production Run, a circulation of 10 pieces numbered from 1 to 10 was produced.
SHRAPNEL OG is a truly multi-purpose "back-up", with strong combat attitudes. The leaf blade is characterized by a wide flat winding, with a narrow sharpening angle which makes it particularly sharp. The rigid sheath can be positioned horizontally, vertically or inclined at 45 °. The SHRAPNEL OG is produced without the top guard.

From collector to author of reviews, to designers: the step was short for Claudio Colombo who, in a short time, decided to put his passion and experience to use by designing his own knife, the Kobura.
Inspired by the kiridashi, the Kobura (cobra in Japanese) revisits the essential lines of what was originally a typical Japanese instrument used to carve wood, but also a small daily utility knife used (especially by children) to tip pencils , cut paper, ropes, etc.The Kobura, an EDC with an aggressive and appealing appearance, is made of D2 steel hardened to 59-61 HRC; the knife is equipped with a short chisel blade (61 mm) and extremely robust (thickness 5.5 mm). On the back there is a practical anti-slip knurling for the thumb. On the side without bevel is the Valknut, a Norse symbol used as the logo of TheFence.
TheFence is a team of shooting instructors with different specialties and experiences. Claudio attended courses with Rob Pincus (of which he is one of the two instructors in Italy), Gabriel Suarez and Scott Reitz (formerly L.A. Swat and instructor); one of the partners is an Active Shooters Response instructor, and another one has deepened Israeli techniques.

Type of production: Industrial

Blade: stainless steel N690Co 58HRC

Blade length: 162mm.
Blade thickness: 6.3mm.
Total length: 293mm.
Weight: 300g.
Sheath: in Nylon
Packaging: Cardboard box with Extrema Ratio logos
Note: -Extrema Ratio developed the first knife of a new production line, called CONTACT.
It has a blade with a lance-shaped profile, a flat grinding and a diamond-shaped geometry. It has got a lower guard branch to protect itself from incidental cuts, upper jumping to improve grip, concave fuller along the length of the blade and a generous thickness blade (6.30mm) the now famous Requiem, revisited in proportions and in some technical features. The first of a new line of multipurpose knives.
The blade is made in Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemical burnishing coating for the Black version. All other colors in production have got a blade with Stone Washed finishing. The handle is still in forprene. It is more assembled by the side screws but thanks to the shank in truncated cone-shaped stainless steel that is screwed to the bottom and goes to fit inside a special seat, which makes it solid. In this way the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist; most of the fabric has been cut off; it has got a 2nd level retention system, remembering the style of the model it was inspired by.
The main shell is injection-molded in shockproof nylon. The secondary retention system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided through the conception of the blade. To extract the blade, to pressure the trigger will be sufficient, thus releasing the safety that holds securely in the sheath. In the horizontal slits of the sheath of a system, which fixes the blade to avoid shaking noises when it is stored inside. The back side of the nylon sheath is M.O.L.L.E. compatible.
The textile part is reduced to its minimum and has got the classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop Extrema Ratio aims to reduce the size of the knife, but not saving on the structural strength and safety accessories.
