Proper maintenance prolongs the life of the knife, makes work easier and safer and reduces the consumption of the wire. Some advices:

- Pay attention that the knives placed in the dishwasher bump other objects; the blades could be damaged.

- Knives guaranteed for dishwashers that are not immediately washed in the machine should be rinsed under the water tap to remove the remains of highly corrosive foods (fats, vinegar, fruit juices).

- Make sure if the knives no longer cut perfectly, have them rectified or sharpened by professionals in the sector.

I designed the ATCF in 1986-87 inspired by my experience with military and security personnel in Central America and the United States. I wanted to create a unique knife that was lightweight yet sturdy, easily accessible and conveniently carried on various garments, completely corrosion-proof, ambidextrous to open and close, and usable with one hand.

The ATCF was the first tactical knife to be fully assembled with screws instead of pins and rivets.
I invented the thumb disk to facilitate opening with both hands. This became a widely copied feature of the ATCF and is used on many other knives by manufacturers around the world.

The ATCF was the first pocket knife to use a knurl on the top of the blade that matches the finger guard at the base of the handle when the blade is closed. The knurl and guard provide protection and a firm grip when the knife is in use. The original ATCF already used a pocket clip to be accessible in various body positions. 

The ATCF is one of the most copied knife shapes in the knife world, and as I often like to proudly say, “The ATCF is the shape...that shaped the whole industry!”

The VULPIS series was born out of the need to create a compact, versatile, multi-purpose knife with a modern design that perfectly matches historical products. The inspiration for the creation of this line starts from the DUCA, the name of the typical multi-purpose knife of the people of Maniago, a knife that originated in the second half of the 1800s in Maniago, when hunting knife sharpeners with different sized blades, ivory toothpicks and tweezers for removing thorns were made.

These knives were presented at the 1888 National Exposition in Turin by the Bet Giovanni company, which won a gold medal for the quality of its products. So it was that, most likely, Luigi Amedeo di Savoia, Duke of the Abruzzi, decided to visit one of the company's two stores in Turin, where he saw and ordered the four-bladed multi-purpose knife, which he chose as part of the equipment for the North Pole expedition he commanded in 1899.

Tips for knife maintenance

Appropriate maintenance prolongs the life of the knife, makes work easier and safer and reduces thread consumption. Some advices:

- Pay attention so that knives placed in the dishwasher do not hit other objects; the blades could be damaged.

- Dishwasher-safe knives that are not immediately washed in the machine should be rinsed under the tap to remove highly corrosive food residues (fats, vinegar, fruit juices).

- If the knives no longer cut perfectly, make sure to have them ground or sharpened by professionals in the sector.

ANZU is the new knife from Fox Knives inspired by the creature of the Mesopotamian religions; a powerful figure who challenged the authority of the gods by stealing from the god Enlil the Table of Destinies, an object that, when possessed, confers the power to control the Universe. Through this act of rebellion, Anzu became an example of power, strength, precision and determination, characteristics that also distinguish the new Fox Knives knife designed by Les George.
