For this new exclusive collaboration with Extrema Ratio we decided to propose a best seller in the world of cutlery, the Shrapnel model. It's a satin blade version but the most important thing is that has been used, for the first time in Italy, the famous Japanese Steel San Mai produced by Takefu Steel. Specifically, we used the CoS (Cobalt Special, considered mechanically superior by 25% compared to the already appreciated VG10) for the central plate and the 420J2 (55 HRC) for the two side plates, in order to have a high cutting capacity, but at the the same time a remarkable resilience and resistance to oxidation.

A First Production Run of 30 pieces has been made.

SHRAPNEL OG is a truly versatile “back up” knife with marked combat qualities. Its leaf-shaped blade is flat ground at a characteristically low angle to a wide, extraordinarily sharp edge. The included hard sheath can be worn vertically, horizontally or obliquely (at a 45° angle). Tthe SHRAPNEL OG hilt design does not include a guard.

The Jungle King is a multipurpose knife produced by the Spanish Aitor for survival use. Thanks to the presence of a large amount of accessories and mini survival kits present in the sheath and in the handle, this knife is a perfect companion for outdoor use. The Spartan-Breed Fighter/Dagger is our first collaboration with knife maker, writer, and retired Green Beret, MSG(R) Kim Breed. The Breed Fighter/Dagger was produced with the goal of creating a sturdy fighter in the spirit of our Special Operations Forces. Daggers have come to symbolize the elite of our military special operations units and agencies since the forming of the OSS. In that spirit, we worked with Kim to create a fighter/dagger that could be used while conducting missions on the modern battle field.
The blade allows for deep penetration, all while allowing the user to index the blade by touch and feel. The ergonomic and textured micarta handle is specifically designed with comfort and confidence in of grip.

The design of this military knife, sponsored by COFS (Special Forces Operative Command) in the person of General Bertolini, had already been suggested by some collectors of white weapons of the time. The restyling of the famous "paratrooper assault dagger mod. 1939 ", constitutes an important piece of Italian military history.

The knife, while borrowing the line, the structure and the proportions from the original, has been strengthened, enriched with functional modifications and made with materials with modern military specifications. The result of these few modifications is an extremely functional and effective dagger. The sheath is ankle-shaped to be worn as Italian paratroopers usually wear a bayonet.

The 39-09 COMBAT version is the compact version with 160mm blade and side sheath.

What is kubotan, what is it for and what origins does it have?

The yawara (also called pasak or dulodulo in Filipino martial arts) is a Japanese instrument used in various martial arts. It is also called Kubotan, even if the origin of the latter has relevance to the USA police of Los Angeles, who used yawara karate techniques, to form a self-defense tool, useful both to stop any aggressors without bloodshed, and to teach citizens to defend themselves without the use of dangerous tools.

The Yawara originated from the use of Kongou, a Buddhist symbolic object, by monks in feudal Japan. The Yawara takes the form of one or two small, thick sticks that protrude about an inch from each side of the hand. They are usually used in pairs to initiate throws, bone breaks, and pressure point strikes.
