  1. Buck - 184 Buckmaster - 1986 Vintage Iconic Knife - PRIVATE COLLECTION - knife

KNIFE PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED, FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION
    * Provenance: Acquired from a private individual, previously purchased
    * Condition: Overall in excellent condition; shows no signs of actual use. It does, however, have the typical scuff marks caused by inserting and removing the sheath, which inevitably abrades the satin finish of the blade; these marks are superficial, uniform, and characteristic of this particular knife model. The sheath is in excellent condition, with minimal signs of abrasion and no breaks or sagging. It comes with an additional nylon pocket with Velcro that contains the original vintage oil-lubricated compass.
    * Commercial availability: Discontinued
    * Sharpness: Factory-sharpened, but could be improved. Not re-sharpened to preserve the product’s original appearance.
    * Marks on the blade: Several superficial abrasion marks left by the sheath, typical of this particular knife model
    * Marks on the handle: A few barely noticeable signs of age
    * Box: -
    * Sheath: Present, in excellent condition, with an additional nylon pocket containing the original period oil-filled compass

The most distinctive—and patented—feature of the Buckmaster Buck 184 is the presence of two removable, screw-mounted harpoons, or hooks. Their primary function is to provide an anchor point: the knife can, in fact, be used as a sort of throwing hook by attaching a rope to the ring on the pommel. The manufacturer claimed the grappling hooks had a holding capacity of up to 600 pounds.

In the case of the Navy SEALs, the requirement was for a knife that could also be used underwater and, if necessary, allow for the anchoring of equipment or vehicles to a submerged anchor point. This specific requirement contributed to the choice of an all-steel construction, designed to offer strength and durability even under harsh underwater operating conditions.

The SOG S1 Bowie Vietnam 5th Special Forces Group is one of the most representative knives in the history of SOG Specialty Knives and the model with which the American brand began its production during the second half of the 1980s. Made in Seki, Japan, the S1 was created as a tribute to the famous knives used by members of the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) during the Vietnam War.

It is important to distinguish the S1 from the original “sterile” military knives actually used operationally during the conflict: the commercial SOG model instead reproduces the commemorative configuration of the famous MACV-SOG Bowie, featuring the U.S. Army Special Forces crest on the blade together with the marking “VIETNAM 5th SPECIAL FORCES GROUP”. This strong historical identity, combined with the quality of Japanese manufacturing, has made it one of the most recognizable and sought-after vintage SOG knives among collectors.

Production was entrusted to Ichiro Hattori in Seki, one of the most important names in Japanese knifemaking. The substantial Bowie blade is made from SK-5 carbon steel, hardened to approximately 57-58 HRC, with the characteristic dark gun-blue finish combined with polished surfaces. The handle uses traditional stacked leather washers stabilized with epoxy resin, completed by a sturdy metal guard and pommel.

This example features the classic SOG Specialty Knives logo on one side of the ricasso and, on the opposite side, the markings “SEKI-JAPAN”, the Special Forces crest and the inscription “VIETNAM 5th SPECIAL FORCES GROUP”. It is also accompanied by its original black leather sheath, complete with sharpening stone pocket and a large Special Forces crest embossed on the lower section. The original period identification label is still present on the back of the sheath.

The example offered here comes from a private collection and has actually been used. The blade shows scratches, abrasions and surface marks, both on the blued and polished areas; the leather handle has developed a noticeable patina and shows wear consistent with its age. The original sheath is also heavily used, with leather wear, marks and widespread abrasions. Its condition should therefore be considered good in relation to its age and nature, but it should not be compared with a display-grade or NOS example.

These very characteristics tell the story of an authentic SOG S1 made in Seki: a knife that, regardless of its cosmetic condition, retains all the appeal of one of the founding models of the brand and today represents a particularly significant piece for a collection dedicated to American military knives and Japanese SOG production from the 1980s and 1990s.

  3. Randall Knives - Model 1-7 - Micarta Finger Grooves - Private

The Randall Model 1 Fighter was one of the first models produced in Randall's Orlando workshop. A Model 1, personally made by Bo Randall, served as the prototype for the Springfield Randall, produced by the Northampton Cutlery Company near Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1943 and 1944 for issue to American military personnel.

Since World War II, Randall knives have been among the world's best-known handmade knives and are still produced in the family-run Orlando workshop, much in the same way Bo made his knives in the late 1930s and early 1940s. The Viking Knives Fighter Model 12 is a custom fixed blade knife attributed to American knifemaker Jim Eriksen and presumably made between the 1990s and the early 2000s, although the exact date is not documented. The knife features a 180 mm blade with a slender profile, pronounced tip and distinctive asymmetric single-bevel grind: one side of the blade is flat, while the opposite side features the main bevel. Its construction includes a straight metal guard, black handle scales secured by two pins and a shaped pommel with a lanyard hole.

The opposing "VIKING" and "ERIKSEN 12" markings, together with the handmade leather sheath branded Viking Knives, support the attribution and enhance its appeal to collectors of American custom knives.

Intended use: collection, display and utility use compatible with its size and geometry
    Production type: handmade custom
    Country of manufacture: United States
    Blade: 440C
    Blade finish: satin
    Handle: G10 scales
    Blade length: 180 mm
    Blade thickness: 6 mm
    Overall length: 303 mm
    Weight: 507 g
    Guard: metal, with straight arms
Sheath: stitched black leather, with rear belt loop and Viking Knives marking
    Packaging: -
Notes: blade with asymmetric geometry, flat on one side and bevelled on the opposite side. "VIKING" and "ERIKSEN 12" markings on the blade. The number 12 presumably refers to the model or pattern, but the official designation has not been verified against an original catalogue. Surface marks consistent with previous storage or use are present. Production date not stated.

The asymmetric grind is one of the specimen's most distinctive technical features and reflects a specific construction choice by the maker. Together with its large size, original branded sheath and clearly legible markings, it supports the knife's position within American custom production intended for collectors. This configuration is particularly appealing to enthusiasts of handmade fighters and unconventional blade geometries.

  6. Microtech - Socom Delta RAM-LOK - Dual Tone Plain M390MK & Frag Pattern Champagne Gold - 160RL-1FRCG-C19Z23 - Knife

The Socom Delta represents the modern evolution of a Microtech icon, setting extremely high standards in the world of tactical and utility knives. A direct descendant of the legendary Socom introduced in 1996, the Delta carries on its legacy while taking it to the next level in terms of ergonomics, durability, and operational versatility. Available with a clip-point or tanto blade, it guarantees top-notch performance in any situation. The integrated glass breaker at the base of the handle and the large pivot, which allows for easy opening even while wearing gloves, reinforce its professional appeal. Its rugged reliability makes it a top choice even in the most demanding environments, now featuring RAM-LOK technology.

This rugged reimagining of the crossbar lock features Microtech’s signature stepped pattern, made famous by the Ultratech series’ activation switches. The aluminum handles are slightly textured, offering excellent grip potential for both standard and reverse grips.

  10. Laguiole En Aubrac - Tree of Life - Handcrafted knife in black poplar burl with hand-engraved spring

On the Laguiole knife, the “bee”—or mouche—is much more than a simple decorative element: it represents one of the most distinctive symbols of French artisanal tradition. Positioned at the tip of the spring, this small sculpture originated historically as a functional element, but over time has become a true stylistic signature through which each artisan expresses their skill and sensibility.

In high-end models, the mouche is not applied but forged in a single piece together with the spring and subsequently finished entirely by hand. It is precisely in these details that the authentic quality of a Laguiole is recognized.

In this particular interpretation, the traditional bee motif gives way to the Tree of Life, finely carved on the mouche and harmoniously integrated into the spring’s decorations. A universal symbol of growth, strength, balance, and the connection between heaven and earth, the Tree of Life represents the continuous renewal of nature and the bond between generations—values that align well with the artisanal tradition passed down through the ages.

The intricate hand-engraving accompanying the central motif extends along the entire spring, creating an elegant and highly decorative ensemble. This complex craftsmanship requires time, precision, and great artisanal skill, making each piece unique.

Further enhancing the knife is the handle made of Black Poplar Burl, a precious wood characterized by deep grain, unique natural patterns, and fascinating color contrasts. Each handle features a unique configuration, making every knife an exclusive piece.

A detail that is not merely aesthetic, but an authentic expression of savoir-faire, tradition, and artisanal craftsmanship.

    Notes on the Designer

Michael Walker is to the knife industry what Michael Jordan is to basketball or Wayne Gretzky is to hockey. He shattered established standards, venturing into uncharted territory and elevating the art of knife-making to new heights of innovation and modernity.

In 1980, the folding knife industry had few locking innovations, and only the traditional Back Lock existed. In 1981, Walker invented, developed, and ultimately trademarked the Michael Walker LinerLock®, adding a leaf spring that locked the blade open, making it a true one-handed folding knife. He also included a latch to keep the blade closed by utilizing the force of the internal leaf spring, preventing it from opening in the user’s pocket.

This innovation paved the way for modern cutlery, enabling numerous new designs and future developments leading up to today’s SubFrame Lock, Frame Lock, Flipper Folder, and ball-bearing-equipped IKBS opening systems.

Other inventions include the “Lake and Walker Safety System” (LAWKS), BLADELock, Ball Bearing Lock, and Tough Lock.

Some of the manufacturers he has collaborated with include Spyderco, Columbia River Knife and Tool, Schrade, Böker, and Klotzli.

Walker’s knives and designs have inspired many other custom knife makers, notably Bob Terzuola and Ernest Emerson. Terzuola credits Walker with teaching him how to make a liner-lock folder, and Emerson has stated that seeing one of Walker’s knives at a gun show inspired him to become a knifemaker.

Walker’s knives can be found at the Artifex Gallery in Taos and in the most prestigious collections around the world.

The Rockstead HIGO II in titanium is not simply a high-end folding knife: it is the ultimate embodiment of Japanese philosophy applied to cutting, where every detail is pushed to the limits of perfection.

The minimalist, flawless titanium handle serves as a counterpoint to a ZDP-189 blade hardened to extreme hardness and finished with an almost unreal mirror polish. The result is not merely aesthetic: it is a living surface, capable of gliding through material with a smoothness and continuity that few knives in the world can offer.

Rockstead’s proprietary convex geometry does more than just cut: it separates, controls, and guides. It is a blade designed for those who recognize the difference between extreme sharpness and true long-term efficiency.

The HIGO II is an object for connoisseurs, where tolerances, treatments, and finishes are not mere technical specifications, but part of a precise language.

On December 9, 1942, during World War II, KA-BAR presented a knife to the United States Marine Corps hoping it would become the standard-issue weapon. In cooperation with the Marine Quartermaster Department, the design was revised and production of an improved fighting and utility knife began.

During the war, USMC KA-BAR knives became so recognized for quality and widespread use that “KABAR” became a common name. It was adopted by the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Underwater Demolition Teams. In later years, many KA-BAR knives were reactivated in Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2019, KA-BAR joined Spartan Blades to form Pineland Cutlery. CEO John Stitt wanted a “KA-BAR” with improved strength, durability and corrosion resistance. During development, metallurgist Larrin Thomas identified CPM MagnaCut® steel as meeting these requirements.

CPM MagnaCut® is a high-carbon powder metallurgy steel produced by Crucible Industries and specifically designed for blades. Spartan Blades developed the Spartan-KA-BAR using CNC machining, cryogenic treatment and PVD coatings.

  49. Microtech - Socom Delta RAM-LOK - Marfione Select Limited Edition - Titanium & Blue Double Vapor Blast - 159RL-10SMS3 - Knife

The Socom Delta represents the modern evolution of a Microtech icon, setting extremely high standards in the world of tactical and utility knives. A direct descendant of the legendary Socom, launched in 1996, the Delta takes its legacy to the next level in terms of ergonomics, solidity, and operational versatility. Available with a clip point or tanto blade, it guarantees absolute performance in any context. The integrated glass breaker at the base of the handle and the large pivot, which allows for easy opening even when wearing gloves, reinforce its professional vocation. Its robust reliability makes it a preferred choice even in the most demanding environments, now with RAM-LOK technology.

This robust reinterpretation of the crossbar closure features Microtech's characteristic stepped pattern, made famous by the Ultratech series of operating switches. The wide blade cutout provides space for reverse middle finger movement and standard slow-rotation thumb opening, with or without gloves. If neither is preferred, simply pull down the RAM-LOK and the blade opens with a simple flick of the wrist. The aluminum handles are slightly textured to provide excellent grip potential with both standard and reverse grips.

Limited edition “Marfione Select” with handle made entirely of solid titanium with a stonewashed finish, rear spacer in blue double vapor blast anodized titanium. The knife comes with a microfiber pouch, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a stainless steel warranty certificate autographed by Marfione himself.

There is a special charm in objects born where steel carries memory. The Kanetsune Shinobi KB-209 embodies the essential aesthetics of Japanese knife-making, recalling the heritage of traditional blades: a refined 15-layer Damascus blade with a Blue Steel (Aogami) core, a handle inspired by traditional Japanese sword mountings featuring samegawa (ray/shark skin) with black cord wrapping, and an elegant Japanese-style wooden sheath. This fixed blade knife offers strong visual impact and is designed for light outdoor use, distinctive EDC carry, or as a collectible piece, combining presence, control, and time-honored materials.

Intended use: Fixed blade knife for EDC, light outdoor activities, tactical use, and collecting.
Production type: High-quality semi-handcrafted production inspired by Japanese tradition.
    Country of manufacture: Japan (Seki).
Blade: Blue Steel (Aogami) with 15-layer Damascus cladding.
Blade finish: Visible traditional Damascus pattern.
Handle: Oak wood handle wrapped in samegawa (ray/shark skin) with black cord.
    Blade length: 135 mm.
    Blade thickness: 4 mm.
    Total length: 260 mm.
Weight: Approx. 162 g (knife only).
Packaging: Knife supplied with Japanese-style wooden sheath.
Notes: KB-209 model from the Shinobi series; often listed as discontinued or difficult to source by various retailers.

A brief history of the brand
Kanetsune is a brand of Kitasho Co., Ltd., based in Seki, a Japanese city historically known as the “City of Cutlery.” The company officially dates back to 1964, with family roots in knife manufacturing and trade going back to the 1930s. The name Kanetsune is traditionally associated with a renowned master bladesmith of the Muromachi period, underlining its strong connection to Japanese forging heritage.

    Use and maintenance advice
The Blue Steel Damascus blade requires care: after use, it is recommended to wash by hand, dry immediately, and apply a light protective oil layer during storage or use in humid environments. Avoid dishwashers and prolonged contact with water or aggressive substances. The samegawa provides a natural, secure grip, enhancing handle stability even with wet hands.

    Why choose this knife
The Kanetsune Shinobi KB-209 is not just a knife, but an object with a strong identity: 15-layer Damascus Blue Steel for a distinctive cutting edge, a traditional handle with samegawa and cord for control and authenticity, and a Japanese-style wooden sheath for elegant presentation. An ideal choice for enthusiasts seeking a fixed blade with true Japanese character, beyond common Western designs.

The handle, precision-machined from a block of satin-finished stainless steel, is lightened by a series of holes that reduce weight and serve as tactile reference points for quick grip changes. The same holes are replicated on the contoured clip, ensuring balance and consistency in indexing.

The ends of the handle widen into a generous finger choil and a pinky rest, ensuring a stable grip in all conditions. The Compression Lock, fully integrated into the titanium scale, offers maximum strength and is rated for heavy-duty use and MBC applications.

The VG-10 blade, hollow-ground sharp, features a non-sharp swedge and a profile that combines a solid point with excellent penetration and cutting ability. Above the classic Spyderco hole is the Cobra Hood, which naturally guides the thumb during quick opening and acts as a control platform when the knife is in use.

Released in 2023, the Stitch RAM-LOK debuted with the MSI (Microtech Standard Issue) as the first Microtech blade equipped with its fantastic RAM-LOK technology. This sturdy reinterpretation of the crossbar lock features Microtech's signature stepped pattern, made famous by the Ultratech series' drive switches. The blade's wide cut provides room for reverse middle finger movements and standard slow-rotation thumb opening, with or without gloves. The aluminum handles are lightly textured to provide excellent grip potential with both standard and reverse grips. Rugged, durable, and made in the USA, we know it will quickly become a favorite among all members of the knife community.

The Microtech Stitch is a beautiful tactical collaboration between Tony Marfione and Sebastijan Berenji, AKA Borka. It takes Sebastijan's fantastic Stitch design and pairs it with Tony's superb opening mechanisms to create one of the most beautiful production collaborations ever.
